At the forefront of progressive and trance for almost a decade, Ilan creates high energy trance with heart and soul. From barnstorming festival favourites ’43’, ‘Spheres’ and ‘Let Me Know’, to modern updates of genre classics like System F’s ‘Out Of The Blue’, Armin van Buuren’s ‘In And Out Of Love’ and OceanLab’s ‘On A Good Day’ and ‘Satellite’, his emotional, song-driven approach to dance music has earned him eleven genre chart #1’s on Beatport and a legion of fans around the world.

Songwriting takes centre stage on ‘Impulse’, his second studio album. ‘Stranger To Your Love’ showcases this emphatically, reuniting ilan with Ellen Smith. Frequently supported by BBC Introducing through her band Shadowlark, Ellen featured on ‘Scars’ album favourite ‘Rival’ and provides two contributions to ‘Impulse’. 

Inspired by his love of uplifting trance records, ilan founded the Stoneblue alias in 2019. Teased online through his ‘anthem tests’, Stoneblue tracks found their way into ilan’s sets at Group Therapy 350, Dreamstate and ASOT950. We’re thrilled to welcome Ilan’s Stoneblue project to the label.

‘Stranger To Your Love’ (Stoneblue Remix) is available to buy and stream now, with the extended mix available exclusively via Beatport until April 9.

The journey of a DJ can be defined in multiple facets. The song, the DJ set, the location, the milestone. And following the conclusion of his triumphant Scream story, Markus Schulz embarks on the next chapter. Dedicated to the winter, but resonating beyond every season.

Winter Kills Me highlights Markus' second collaboration with Grammy Award-winning songwriter and vocalist Victoria Horn, who descended into the hearts of many Coldharbour followers thanks to her emotional emission on Scream 2’s stalker anthem sequel, Erase You. Thanks to the electrifying connection, Lady V became an outstanding candidate to star on not just one of Markus' signature career productions, but also to celebrate the 200th release of his Coldharbour outlay.

A year in the making, Winter Kills Me was carefully crafted and held in reserve for the most tender of moments in Markus' tour schedule. The final track of his 2014 residency at Amnesia in Ibiza, the final track of his last ever appearance at Toronto's iconic Guvernment, and the final track at his ambassadorial home of Transmission in Prague; all defined by this soul-inducing melody and vocal. Moments which will be remembered for life.

Along with the outstanding original, Markus welcomes a bona fide legend for his Coldharbour debut. Paul Oakenfold has continually played the role of dance music pioneer, with his desire and impact remaining as infectious today. His take on Winter Kills Me shifts towards the modern big-room sounds, primed for those peak festival moments throughout Christmas and New Year.

And rounding out the package is a Dutch duo who have begun to carve a legacy of their own, thanks to previous Coldharbour anthems such as Apache and Underworld. Fisherman & Hawkins provide the powerful combination of driving basslines and soaring melodies, which is sure to light up the artillery of many DJ sets worldwide.

It's an incredibly proud moment for Markus and everyone at Coldharbour to celebrate 200 releases. And thanks to the exuberant resonance from the fans so far, Winter Kills Me is a fitting and defining piece.

You won’t find a club track more thoroughbred than one that organically started life in a club. Or, as is the case of ‘Musica’, one that was born inside an aircraft-hanger-sized arena, live and of-the-moment in front of a 10,000+ trance fans. 

Every bit as much caught in that moment himself, ‘Musica’ gleamed out of the mind of Giuseppe Ottaviani at last November’s immense Dreamstate event. In the middle of a test run of his new tech set-up Live 2.0, club met studio and the Italian converted its key elements in real time. 

Music doesn’t get more spontaneous and feedback doesn’t get any more instantaneous! Right space, right crowd and right atmosphere had made for the mother of all inspirations.  
Energized by its reaction, in the week that followed Giuseppe brought the track into a more traditional studio setting. Machined, refined and finely honed, he’s turned an ID diamond into a pristine piece of shining trance. ‘Musica’ had gone from Dreamstate to finished state in under week! 

As Giuseppe himself says “on stage, you have to live in the moment”. ‘Musica’s the direct result of that approach… and likely the first of many.
