Happy to share this recording of my first DJ set in Europe, recorded at Gare in Porto. I was invited to play by my family, the Hayes Collective.

Gare holds a special place for many, and will always have a special place in my heart. The crowd was sensational, dancing through the night. Vil and Cravo played a great opening set, creating an inviting mood to set the tone of the night perfectly. 

This is the first two hours of my three-hour set. The last hour was just for those who were there.

I hope you enjoy my closing set from Studio31's party at Couple from December 2023. 

It was a lovely experience hanging out with the Studio31 crew and their friends. They put on a home cooked meal for around 30 of us at the venue which was a wholesome way to begin the evening. It was a good chance to connect with people and to get to know Biemsix and Ignez.

The crowd was really fun and receptive to me playing my style. Thanks to everyone who came and especially to those who stayed until the end. Coupoleis a great venue and a true pleasure to play in. Having such massive subs right at your back was a full body experience to say the least.

There were some pre-set nerves prior to playing. For me, this set was important as it was my first booking since moving to London. I wanted to make a good impression whilst maintaining an authentic and experimental sound. After the first few mixes, I had found my groove and were we’re off and flying, and a I achieved what I had set out to do.

A recording of my first international DJ set, taken from Alzar club in Osaka. Headlining my first show overseas was real a dream come true. I can't thank MGA Sound and Toru Ikemoto enough for making it happen. 

The experience itself was quite surreal as its seeing a life long dream manifest into reality. Can't wait to do it again. Thanks to all my friends and family for the support also, I'm here because of you guys and you've always backed me in. 

Osaka has the foundations to be a blossoming techno city. The club infrastructure and DJ/producer talent is certainly there.

The mix includes tracks from Ø [Phase], Marcel Dettmann & Shed (Deuce), Pfirter, Truncate, Kalean, Sterac, Yotam Avni, Emmanual, Rødhåd, Bryan Zentz, Planetary Assault Systems, Slam, Elyas plus many more. I've also included a smattering of my own productions throughout the mix. 

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did performing the set.

Bio: 
Fergus Sweetland's sound is a visceral exploration of groove and rhythm, rooted in fundamental human instincts. The Melbourne-born, London-based artist crafts unique contemporary techno by blending moods, textures, and atmospheres with an innate sense of storytelling.

Music has been a cornerstone of Fergus' life. Inspired by his mother’s eclectic taste, he grew up immersed in the sounds of US3, Gorillaz, Roy Orbison, Groove Armada, and more. Initially producing house music, Fergus discovered his passion for techno after experiencing Marcel Dettmann’s transformative performance at Rainbow Serpent Festival in 2015.

With over 15 years of production experience, Fergus draws from his love of jazz, bossa nova, rap, ambient, and electronic music to create dynamic, boundary-pushing techno. His DJ sets mirror this ethos, guiding audiences on an immersive sonic journey.

Fergus is a key member of the Hayes Collective, having consistently released his music on the esteemed Portuguese label since 2020. His work has also found a home on Illegal Alien, NRBK, Ear To Ground, Connection Verified, and Codec Recordings, in addition to his own imprint, Pressure Systems.

Pressure Systems embodies the philosophy that sound is pressure and music is its system. The label champions total creative freedom and authenticity, reflecting the physical and emotional power of sound as a medium for deep self-expression.
