Pieces from "Woven Tide" as well as solo work by Aaron Martin accompanies the new documentary film by Lost Hill Picture's Ross McDonnell and Carter Gunn for Fastnet Films, Remember Me, My Ghost, which is currently touring the film festival circuit.?McDonnell and Carter are most recently known for their award winning documentary film Colony which documents the unexplainable phenomenon known as Colony Collapse Disorder that has left landscapes of empty beehives all across America, and also features music by Aaron Martin.? An upcoming short film by McDonnell and Carter featuring Color Loss from Woven Tide will be included on an upcoming Wholpin DVD magazine published by McSweeney's.

Since 2005 Gothenburg, Sweden based musician Dag Rosenqvist's work has graced imprints including Miasmah, Fang Bomb, Under The Spire, Lampse, Lidar, Slaapwel, Kning Disk, Dead Pilot Records, Lowpoint, and Rural Colors.

Since 2006 Topeka, Kansas based composer Aaron Martin's work has found its rightful home on labels such as Preservation, Mobeer, Experimedia, Type, Under The Spire, and Sonic Meditations. Aaron's most recent solo album, Worried About The Fire, is also available from Experimedia.

On the 21st of March 2014 we will be celebrating 5 years of Home Normal. It has been an incredible journey to get this far and we never could have reached it without the kind support of talented artists and all the wonderful people who have ever bought one of our releases or attended one of our shows.

In this modern digital age with its constant stream of information, we've sought to work as quietly as possible, firmly rooting our ethos that things can be released in a subtle, quiet way. 'Organic' has always been the key word, and we are so thankful that people seem to still appreciate the natural path we've chosen, ignoring all the noise that surrounds our chosen way.

To celebrate this great landmark for us, we will be releasing our 5th year compilation 'Elements'. With over 60 artists from our past, present and future involved, this five disc compilation will be raising money for 5 different charities which are close to our hearts. All profits from Elements Three (火) will be donated to ecoACTIVE which is an innovative environmental education charity with a reputation for using hands-on, practical and fun approaches to explore complex issues of sustainability.

American and Swedish composers Aaron Martin and Dag Rosenqvist came together in 2011 under the name From the Mouth of the Sun. Their first album "Woven Tide" was released by Experimedia in 2012 and they returned in 2015 for their second album "Into the Well." In 2016, three pieces from Woven Tide played an integral role in David Wingo's score for Jeff Nichols's Warner Bros. feature "Midnight Special." Their third album "Hymn Binding" will be released by Lost Tribe Sound in 2017.

Using a vast array of acoustic and electric instruments, including cello, piano, banjo, pump organ, and guitar, while utilizing analog equipment, Aaron and Dag craft unique musical landscapes full of contrasts, where melodies and ominous textures intertwine.

Released by Wayfind Records, the music for "Menashe" marks the first original score for a full-length narrative film by Aaron Martin and Dag Rosenqvist.

From the Mouth of the Sun (aka Aaron Martin & Dag Rosenqvist) return with ‘Sleep Stations,’ an EP of six new songs, out May 18th, 2018 on Lost Tribe Sound. ’Sleep Stations’ rests comfortably alongside 2017’s ‘Hymn Binding’ their third full-length album and their original score for Joshua Z. Weinstein’s feature film, ‘Menashe.’ With ‘Sleep Stations’ the duo assures us that their exquisite palette of classical leaning, electro-acoustics reaped from their previous albums still leaves much to be explored.

In fact, the pieces of ‘Sleep Stations’ were composed during many of the same sessions as ‘Hymn Binding’ and ‘Menashe,’ yet they feel like a natural continuation of From the Mouth of the Sun’s sound, a stepping stone towards the next chapter, if you will. The core sound will be instantly recognizable for those who’ve followed their previous endeavors, comprised of cello, piano, acoustic guitars, lap steel, banjo, ukulele, pump organ, soft humming electronics and warm layer of static.

The title track ‘Sleep Stations’ was originally meant to be included on the album ‘Hymn Binding.’ It acted as a centerpiece and starting point for the music that From the Mouth of the Sun recorded later during the process of scoring the ‘Menashe’ film. The film ended up requiring an extremely spare palette, thus the ‘Sleep Stations’ EP represents a longing for a fuller and more controlled sound that exhibits the dynamic range that From the Mouth of the Sun strive for with their work.

There is a softness and detachment to ‘Sleep Stations’ more so, that seems to give the album an of aerial view of the landscape below. Where ‘Hymn Binding’ felt more grounded in the earth and soil, ‘Sleep Stations’ floats high above, feeling weightless, suspended in slow motion flight.

Arranging ‘Sleep Stations’ as an EP, has allowed Aaron and Dag to tell a shorter story, one that doesn’t have to be such a grand gesture, which is something they’ve wanted to explore for a while now. It’s a beautiful reminder, that a collection of music can still be simple yet deeply affecting, without being overwrought and excessive.

CASSETTE DETAILS
‘Sleep Stations,’ our 3rd installment in the Dead West Tape Series, arrives on a limited pro-dubbed hi-bias tape cassette, housed in a reverse printed 300gsm heavy stock outer case. The edition (limited to 100) also comes with a download card offering a choice of formats including FLAC, 320K MP3, etc. Mastering was performed by Matthew Collings (aka one half of the duo Graveyard Tapes).
