Born and raised in South Sacramento, CA, Brandon Buckley or Chico aka YB is anything short of amateur talent.  At just the tender age of 13, he took an incredible interest in Rap music.  Not knowing where his music would take him, he knew that his love for lyrics was unstoppable.  

He began listening closely to artists such as Jay-Z, Mac Dre, Hot Boyz, Mistah Fab, Busta Rhymes, Keak Da Sneak, T.I., & E-40.  Nonetheless, he didn’t always have to venture far to hear raw talent−musical influences resided throughout his family.  His cousin, Lil’ Chris, had previously formed a Rap group they called, Young Hustlaz; another family member, whom is also known as one of Sacramento’s musical pioneers, E-Moe, also gave a young Chico aka YB the musical knowledge he needed. He also credits E-Moe for giving him his very first studio session−giving his voice life through the mic.

Another musical influence on him was his relative, Mace Ave, whom is also E-Moe’s son.  He (Mace Ave) and his cousin, Lil’ Kev, gave Chico aka YB his first feature.  That feature would belong to a song (“Stuntin” ft. Lil’ Kev), that would later be scheduled to become the first single from the "Tell Me Where You From" mixtape by the Rap group, Stuntin’ Boyz (Chico aka YB, Lil’ Sicx, Mace Ave) released in 2005.  The song unfortunately never made the mixtape. Stuntin’ Boyz instead created 13-14 fresh tracks for the project and it was released as planned. They would later separate in 2008 due to miscommunication issues.

Over the years, he formed a close-knit relationship with up and coming artist Torrey Tee (he and Torrey Tee are both Florin High School alumni & co-run the indie label Full Effect Entertainment, formed in 2006) and Elisa Scott of iLisa Entertainment.  Elisa Scott and Chico aka YB came together, and he began performing locally−one to two nights a month at #RocDaMicSacramento and other venues.

In 2011, he released his first solo mixtape entitled, "Growing Pains Vol. 1".  That project was immediately followed up with "Growing Pains Vol. 2", which was digitally and physically released in February of 2012.  He followed that up almost immediately with his next project titled "Evolution", which was also digitally and physically released on October 20, 2012. 

After an almost 3 year hiatus, Chico aka YB is refueled and back in the studio with his Full Effect Ent. partners working on his forth coming installment "Growing Pains: The Ep" and a ton of other projects and collaborations.

Christopher E. Lawson Jr was born in Sacramento, CA. He realized young at the age of about three, pots, pans and anything with a sound effect made him happy. One mic and one stereo is what started his dream. From the bass to the hard compressed claps, the sounds of instrumental greatness, and the voices soothing to his ears; music has always been a part of him. At the age of five, his parents introduced him to a microphone connected to a stereo, a tape deck player with an A/B side and the volume nob. From there on out he embarked his journey through music.

Born into a family with good choices of music and talent Christopher was able to soak up the abilities. Showing no favoritism to one genre, he was able to listen to a wide variety of sound. He first sang and performed on stage in the 6th grade leading the national anthem for graduation. At the beginning of Christopher’s second year of high school he moved to Elk Grove, CA. Sophomore year was a whirl of excitement. He took up a drum class, met his two closest friends Mike Sanders, Shawn Conrad, and his musical talent was restored. Beat boxing and rap circles, big crowds and dance battles they did it all. In his junior year at Franklin High School he took up a piano class and fell in love with the instrument. Focusing on Producing Christopher was able to make his own production and share to class mates for feedback. After graduating, for a while Christopher was a lead singer for the group “4Play”, but was unable to stay around and the group fell apart quickly.

Christopher took a year off of school until he then found himself enrolling in the Academy of Arts University. In two semesters he learned more than he could even imagine and became a better musician. Currently Christopher is still attending as a Producer, Singer and Songwriter and apart of  a production team called “RedAcademy”. Christopher is efficient with Logic, Pro Tools, Reason, Unity, Avid Media Composer, and Audio Production. Currently he is working on various productions involving Visual, EP’s, Mixtapes, and possible Albums.
