‘TKO’ is the debut EP from Alexmalism, under the Hong Kong based collective Absurd Trax. 

The Hong Kong-based music producer, sound artist, and DJ Alexmalism explores the boundary in between styles and genres, and his first debut track ‘Sombre’ was released in the complication ‘Mental Maps’ by the pan-Asia label Chinabot. 

Known as Junk Bay historically, Tseung Kwan O locates at the southeastern part of New Territories. While being one of the nine new towns of Hong Kong which was developed by the Colonial British Government to accommodate the growing population, it is also where the South East New Territories Landfill locates. 

The British marxist David Harvey once defines the suburbs as ‘a way to absorb the surplus product and thereby resolve the capital surplus absorption problem’, places like Tseung Kwan O is merely a result of capitalism where consumerism is at the heart of the place, so as the landfill there almost symbolizes the excessiveness of consumerism perfectly. 

As one might spend their whole life living in a place but still lack of belongingness, the feeling of deterritorialization forms the undertone of this EP. The title of this EP ‘TKO’ also stands for ’Tseung Kwan O’, which is the place where Alexmalism lives for more than ten years. This EP is not only inspired by the suburban, utilitarian cityscape, but also it explores the dysphoria of living in the suburb through the dualistic character through combining a highly minimalistic yet almost plasticky sound and euphoric industrial beats and rhythm.

Marco Colocci (@queimada77) is an Italian producer and sound engineer based in Berlin. Learning how to play the contrabass and music theory has initiated the growth of his interest in the techniques of field recording and sound design, as well as his overall passion for electronic music. After self-releasing music during his teens, and later producing for Taiwanese artist Sabiwa from Chinabot, under the moniker Queimada he now presents a debut record coming out on Gin&Platonic.

Built around a concept proposed by Harvard professor E.O. Wilson, Eremocene depicts a future state of miserable epoch into which human species is slowly but steadily accelerating. Characterized by the existential & material isolation that comes from having calamitously extinguishing other forms of life on Earth while intrepidly fulfilling our immediate needs, the future labeled as The Age of Loneliness sees our identity completely transformed. 
On the record, Queimada explores precisely the conflict between the tempting ease and a pang of unconfessed guilt in an attempt to capture the ironical relationship they epitomize. The album represents an encounter between different techniques of granular synthesis and field recording. The encounter between the unstoppable and destructive, altogether resulting in a disruptive anthem of the intensifying burden of the postmodern times.

After 6,001 years in hypersleep, the symbiotic 011668 / S280F emerge from their calcified cocoons using sound, sculpture, and dance to resurrect the remains of a decimated Los Angeles (Tongva).

Joined by the equally vague and ancient oracle vvxxii - the amphibious coven references the lost low-frequency technology of our celestial ancestors; both as a healing tool and as a portal towards the primordial depths of the next reality.

Through digital swamps and climate catastrophes, 011668 / S280F / vvxxii encourage swim in sync beyond borders and post language - illustrating and analyzing the effects of pollution on flora/fauna by embodying and animating the mutated spawns and their further evolutions.

Today we see the return of [Modular Mind](https://www.modular-mind.com/) on Zenevloed,  a label that provides a platform to help demarginalize artists that are expressing themselves within the boundaries of counterculture. In an age where humanity finds itself in polarizing stances, the label always makes a statement with artists showing a side that is true to them and themselves, and here we can witness that in the mesmerizing work by Years of Denial, an unparalleled piece of their work that exposes a more intimate façade. Here we look to give our inner demons a voice rather than suppressing them with an entertaining rhythm. The duo's appearance on Modular Mind feels like a perfect alignment of their momentum, giving both entities the tools to assemble the narrative required to support their philosophies.

The label's 9th instalment; [MM05] Human Tragedy mini-LP by Years of Denial is no exception to their ethos. Here we can find some of YoD's most expressive work, a conceptualized statement from start to finish, holding the torch of what has been described as a lost doctrine (reporting the extreme parallels of the human condition). The duo's work on MM05 holds the users hand and shows them a window overlooking a peculiar world, void of perversion. Interestingly enough this work exposes the fragility of humans and it coincides with the current zeitgeist.

Modular Mind showcases this work in full by presenting a beautifully crafted 180g marbled vinyl, a strictly limited edition 60-page art booklet, and lastly a combination of body art expression and masterful envisioned video directive.
