Teaser clip from the half hour long piece "Myrskymielellä", adapted from a 1891 poem by the Finnish national poet, Eino Leino, taken from the upcoming self-titled album by new project "All That We See or Seem". LTD LP + Digital coming end of October 2022.

"Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream?" This quote from a poem by Edgar Allan Poe sums up the lamenting, primal work that is "All That We See or Seem"; a project conceived between Finland, England and Brazil. The self-titled album consists of two long-form pieces of droning mysticism hailing from the trio of Gruth (concept, production, electronics), Ellen Southern (vocals, field recordings, percussion) and Johanna Puuperä (violin, modular synthesizer, additional vocals).

I've been experimenting with taking field recordings and reworking the material by repeating and layering small segments, as well as applying light effects, notably pitch-shifting. That's what this is. I use various tools. In this case, I did it all just in Audacity. The source audio is something I recorded in an office supply store on my phone. You can find the original here:

The first ever demo of 'Several Times'! Remixed versions were featured later on 'Sleeps With The Fishes' and This Moral Coil's 'Blood'. It was recorded on a 4 track cassette recorder in 1983, using a Korg Poly 800 and a microphone only. The sound recording is abysmal but the gloomy yet poetic and melancholical atmosphere is undeniably present already. This raw, unpolished version is featured on the Clan Of Xymox Early Demos.

First-ever-severaltimes

Old synths, cheap sequencers, noisy effects and busted tape machines. Recorded mostly between 1980 and 1988, with higher-fi, newer stuff being fussed over intermittently. Baked. Hazy. Provocative.
