Taking a brief respite from the upcoming zine launch, SMUT Press is beyond thrilled to announce Lovecat as the sixteenth mix in our SMUT mix series.  Lovecat is the former alias of Expresso and moniker of London-based legend Martina. As well as founder of Arize, one of London’s freshest club-nights championing her cheekily titled “Tr4nnyT3k” sound, Lovecat has been rapidly assuming position as one of the scene’s most exciting sounds with the most beloved looks. Recent gigs at 2c-perrea and Riposte as well as in Leeds for Rat Party showcasing this talented selector’s prowess,  expect to hear lots from her over the next while.  This one is really for the girls with the boomin system -  hard and fast techno cuts, reggaeton and power pop edits. You can catch Lovecat at Dalston Superstore on May 7th for Female Trouble. 016 - LOVECAT

ERAM recorded a fast mix with only female juke, jungle, footwork and club productions, a blast of broken beats that lead to a 4x4 ghetto feel all infused in the good old rave spirit. Bringing her own tracks together with many of her friends and references producers.

This mix is a proof of female's heavy weight in production.

ERAM is the project of the multidisciplinary Brazilian artist Marianna Viscaíno, co-founder of ZONAexp and currently a member at Tijolo records label. She has played at many parties on the Brazilian underground rave scene and is a national reference on the leftfield electronic music. Her productions have been played all around the world, resulting on releases with labels from Germany, UK, US and their first UK/European tour in May of this year, starting at the Bang Face festival in London. Her sets consist of a truly unique blend of urban electronic music of UK as well as US heritage and Brazilian national funk and rap, a result of a strong personality, mixing different styles with versatility, pervaded by accelerated BPMs.

John is an old and dear friend of ours here at Lights Down Low. He has been attending our parties since pretty much our inception and we actually had him perform live for our 4th anniversary party back in 2009. Since then John has shifted away from his live performances and emerged as an amazing up and coming DJ in the La scene. We’re honored to include him in our mix series ahead of his debut dj performance at Lights Down Low for our annual Halloween Rave to the Grave event.

John Bryars passion for music started at an early age with piano and soon after started playing drums. He continued to develop his musical abilities and began playing in a band drawing inspiration from artists including Sonic Youth, Fugazi and Blonde Redhead. He bought his first pair of turn tables and began spinning and collecting records during his senior year of high school.

After moving to San Francisco to attend art school, John formed the two piece band The Tenderlions in 2007. They were well received for their unique mix of live electronic and acoustic elements. The Tenderlions released several EP’s as well as singles and remixes through various labels such as Om Records. The live electronic duo had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of The Prodigy James Murphey, and Simian Mobile Disco as well as playing reputable venues like The Warfield, Mezzanine, and Shoreline Amphitheater as well as various festivals. 

John is currently based in Los Angeles and is recognized for his broad tastes and eclectic style. He has played Legendary Los Angeles parties such as A Club Called Rhonda, Lights Down Low, Midnight Lovers and Future Primitive. He has DJed alongside Solar, Lina willikens, Marie Davidson, Octa Octa, Interstellar Funk, Honey Soundsystem, Gerd Janson, Honey Dijon, Maya Jane Coles and many others. He has done radio shows for NTS, Dublab and KXLU. He has played various festivals such as Sunset Campout and is working on an EP set to release early next year.
