We are about to embark on our first DTW European miniTour, with shows in London, Leeds and Berlin confirmed. I will be linking up with the team of Melo-zed, Jaël, Silo and Jasper Staal, and can't say enough how excited it feels to be meeting these folks IRL soon.
Also, Jamz Supernova has very kindly invited us for a takeover on her BBC 1XTRA show on the 8th, so things are moving in a strong way right now. Grateful, but most importantly, I hope to see you folks in one of these dates.

Just came back from our showcases in Shanghai and Beijing, and I am feeling super invigorated. Being able to converse in Mandarin with Howie Lee and the Do Hits! crew certainly brought us closer together, and we are currently planning a quarterly residency with them in Beijing - Keep an eye out for that, but in the meantime, soak up the latest IN 30. Slightly rough around the edges in certain segments, but hey there's the beauty of improvisation. I hope you enjoy the selections nonetheless.

The rainy weather in tropical Singapore got me in the zone this morning, and I blended a few of my recent favs together in the 9th edition of the #IN30 series. Kicked off with a really smooth joint by our artist silo, before travelling into some Aso, Falcxne, vincentleone and venturing deeper into the afro territories. Just had to finish the mix with a wicked Groovemen spot rendtiton of bell biv devoe's poison - you guys need to check him OUT.

Finally, i had the time to whip up the 10th edition of the IN 30 mix series. I have been on the road quite a bit lately, and most recently, linked up with Howie Lee and played our debut DTW showcase in Taipei. It's been real connecting with the Do Hits crew, and we are strengthening the ties in the Asian region.
There has been tremendous growth with DTW, and it's inspiring to see more and more like-minded folks coming together and creating in unison.

This may not be to everyone's liking, especially if you have been tuning consistently to my IN 30 mixes, which primarily focuses on the varying shades of hip-hop, funk and experimental beats. House and Techno have always been a staple in my record collection, particularly with NY and Chicago house music being an indelible part of my journey.

From the smoky jazz, beats to the 4/4 house cuts, it's all about finding the sweet spots in between these various genres, and stitching them up. It's always fun to dive straight into a mix without much planning and deliberation, and the groove will lead the way.

Second edition of my 'Asian Soundwaves' mix series - In the past few years, I have been venturing into the universe closer to home, and there's so many gems to  be unearthed especially in the South East Asian region. The mix focuses predominantly on the deeper sounds of Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan with the occasional dashes of Japanese jazz-funk and edits. Artists like Judy Teng, Chen Qiao Mei and Shi Lun on the Singaporean label Tony have experimented with the disco and funk sounds, and not forgetting their Indonesian counterparts, who also embodied an equally adventurous spirit in re-interpreting their roots. Do make a point to discover Yoel Crizal, Bimbo 80, Keenan Naustion, Ade Manuhutu and Arial Yunior if what you hear in the next 50 mins piques your curiosity.
Special shouts go out to my main man, Munir aka https://soundcloud.com/midnightrunners (who has been very kind to share some of his extensive knowledge), and the highly dedicated Mr Ong of the iconic Red Point Record Warehouse - it's always a dangerous temptation when I step into his space, because he would very likely have a stack of chinese records to recommend!

Can't believe 2017 is almost over! It's been another year of learning, growing and harnessing patience. Believing in the natural process is always very important, and letting the energy flow through every aspect of one's life is key to maintaining awareness and a balanced attitude.

Earning praises from a worldwide range of selectors that include the likes of Dam-Funk, Tama Sumo, San-Soda, Mike Huckaby, Jamie XX and 2562, Dean aka the Funk Bast*rd (one half of the Cosa nostra duo and co-founder of Singapore-based label Darker Than Wax) has been tirelessly pushing and promoting an alternative expression of leftfield music through his widely eclectic and genre-bending sets. Being the main A+R and creative mastermind behind DTW, the label has flourished tremendously over  the past 5 years, cementing its place as one of the go-to labels out of South East Asia.

His musical selection, which traverses between a huge variety of musical genres like deep jazz, soul, funk, boogie, brazilian grooves, house, techno, breaks, hip hop and bass numbers have left many indelible marks on the dancefloors.

It’s no surprise then that he has played alongside some of the world’s finest like Gilles Peterson, Benji B, Kyle Hall, Lefto, Recloose, Gerd Janson, Basic Soul Unit, Linkwood, Norman Jay, Souleance, Pearson Sound, Krystal Klear, Tiger and Woods, Mike Huckaby, Seven Davis Jnr and most notably, warmed up for Dj Ez, Fourtet and Dam Funk.
His sets have also taken him around the world, playing most recently at Dimensions Festival in Croatia, various cities in Europe, Asia, and Brazil. In 2016, Funk B was also invited on BBC 1XTRA, Rinse RM, Radar Radio, and swung through the legendary Brownswood basement of Gilles Peterson with a 2-hour exclusive Worldwide FM mix. He is also a regular presenter on Gilles' Worldwide Fm, transmitting good vibes every 3rd Tuesday of the month.
