With the release of “Oba”, BBE has uncovered a rare gem. Production duo Dan Stillit and Oli Savill (collectively, Deep Tenor City) bringing together a wide group of the most accomplished (some Grammy- nominated) artists from the worlds of Jazz, Latin. Fusion, Funk and Afro-beat. “Oba”, recorded in the winter months of 2003, is a complex and percussion-rich slice of glorious afro-cuban jazz fusion, is only now seeing the light of day, having this year been given serious underground airtime and club play.

The EP also features an infectious and distinctive and remix from the mighty Opolopo and a vocal-rich deep house remix from AriesAudio (Josh Emman). Again, both tracks have been had strong early reception in the underground scene.

The latest in Ray Ban’s Never Hide Films series, "Color Guard" tells the story of a young girl (Clover Nee) who requests that her babysitting Uncle Jamie (Jamie Granato) tell her a bedtime story. Jamie’s improvised tale centers around a group of color-blind and joyless adults, including Clover’s father Roland (Scovel), who attend “Guru Tiki Royal’s Color Camp For Adults” in efforts to be cured of their ailments and add color to their world.

Funk was the syncopated groove that emerged in the mid-sixties through hits from James Brown and Dyke and The Blazers. It was a natural development out of rhythm and blues. Thousands of local bands tried to emulate Brown’s success, and in the process created a plethora of rare and sought after 45s and album cuts that have been mined by DJs and producers to fill floors or provide breakbeats. Whilst the 20 tracks on this compilation would cost you thousands of pounds to own on their original issue, that isn’t really the point. Instead you get to listen to magnificent grooves such as Mickey & The Soul Generations explosive ‘Iron Leg’, Andrew Brown’s blues tinged ‘You Made Me Suffer’ or the message music of 24 Carat Black.

On the 14th October 2016 J&D Records release three exceptional compilations that look at vintage African-American music through the prism of UK club culture. All Night Long, Can You Feel ThatBeat and Extra Added Soul will be available on CD & double vinyl and are compiled by DJ and award winning compiler Dean Rudland, with stunning artwork from his long-time collaborators The Unknown. Riding on the heels of their first single off of <i>Vol. 2 (Walk On By)</i> with its orchestral soul arrangements, the second single from <i>Vol. 2</i>, Rotary Connection's "I Am the Black Gold of the Sun," is an ode to the beautifully epic orchestral arrangements of producer Charles Stepney.

But this time, the Decoders have decided to venture into the Brazilian repertoire, incorporating Samba and Jazz elements into the group's psychedelic soul arrangement.

This version features <a href="http://soundcloud.com/wax-poetics/sets/venice-dawn-something-about/">Adrian Younge's Venice Dawn</a> vocalists Loren Oden and Brooke De Rosa on vocals, as well as Jungle Fire's Steve Haney on percussion and Brazilian musician Quetzal Guerrero on percussion and berimbau.

The artwork for the single is an original painting by Los Angeles–based artist Michelle Robinson. Michelle's work has been praised by Cee-Lo Green, among others. For more info, check out her <a href="http://www.michellizm.com/">website</a>.
