End of the Republic uses the words of Abraham Lincoln to produce a dystopian view of the state of the republic.

The music was made using a Soma Enner, a granular synth and two tape decks running at different speeds. It was of course recorded live with the words dubbed afterwards.

Sushumna is a music ensemble, which performs original songs, sacred mantras and devotional chants from different traditions and religions from around the world. They perform modern live acoustic music, with guitars, drumming and vocals, which help to remove the conscious mind and take participants into a state of bliss. 

Sushumna play a large spectrum of music including some that are slow inspirational pieces and others that are energetic and upbeat which invite those listening to be one with the sound and dance. Their music entices an abundance of happiness, joy and fun to those listening and participating in the gathering. It conveys a message of peace to the world and opens a channel of connection to the divine through opening of the heart and transformation of the self. 

Sushumna encourage people to interact with their music through Kirtan. Kirtan is a spiritual practice that originated from India. It is the technique of call and response singing whereby a person leads the chant and others call back to the leader in response. It draws in sacred energy and shifts blockages within the self, opening it to feeling more love, happiness and peace in our lives. The sounds are energy and they fill us with the vibrations of the divine, which unite us on a beautiful journey and take us back to the very essence and truth of our being.

1) O Gopinatha, Lord of the gopis, please hear my request. I am a wicked materialist, always addicted to worldly desires, and no good qualities do I possess.

 

2) O Gopinatha, You are my only hope, and therefore I have taken shelter at Your lotus feet. I am now Your eternal servant.

 

3) O Gopinatha, how will You purify me? I do not know what devotion is, and my materialistic mind is absorbed in fruitive work. I have fallen into this dark and perilous worldly existence.

 

4) O Gopinatha, everything here is Your illusory energy. I have no strength or transcendental knowledge, and this body of mine is not independent and free from the control of material nature.

 

5) O Gopinatha, this sinner, who is weeping and weeping, begs for an eternal place at Your divine feet. Please give him Your mercy.

 

6) O Gopinatha, You are able to do anything, and therefore You have the power to deliver all sinners. Who is there that is more of a sinner than myself?

7) O Gopinatha, You are the ocean of mercy. Having come into this phenomenal world, You expand Your divine pastimes for the sake of the fallen souls.

8) O Gopinatha, I am so sinful that although all the demons attained Your lotus feet, Bhaktivinoda has remained in worldly existence.
