A mainstay of the club scene and DJ life for the better part of 25 years, Charlotte NC's Rex Dasteppa (aka Lorin Wade) has a very distinct and diverse djing style that pulls from all genres and emotions of music and puts the listener on a complete mix of heavy riddims, ghetto, house, and broken beats.  

Having held many residencies over the years at some of the country's most prestigious nightclubs,  with his ever evolving versatility, has given him the opportunity to open for and share the stage over the decades with a who's who of electronic artists and Djs including Orbital, DJ Craze, Carl Cox, Roni Size, Rabbit in the Moon, Hardkiss Brothers, and Dynamix II just to name a few. 

Rex Dasteppa is the owner and director of respected boutique dance label Base Industry Records, where he spends his time looking for fresh and talented artists, and has worked with Lowfreak, Nina Wilde, Freq Boutique, Move Ya, Stephen Cole, Rick Tedesco and more.

As a producer, he holds original and remixing credits for artists like Agent K, J-Break, Charlie P, Plex Long, and more, seeing releases on Digital Records, Rewind,  Abstract Logic, Twijit, BasicLux, as well as his label Base Industry.

Really glad to be introducing Yonexx to Trapical collective today and releasing his remix of "Solo" by Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato. Originally from the south of Spain (Cádiz), Funk U is the artistic alias of Borja, a DJ and music producer who began his career at the age of 19 and quickly established himself as a key figure in the underground breakbeat scene in southern Spain. Known for his powerful and solid basslines, his sound has evolved over the years while maintaining a cutting-edge and rhythm-driven core.
His dynamic and versatile approach has allowed him to perform across a wide range of events — from private parties and fairs to industrial raves and major festivals such as the Sunday Breaks Festival. Over the years, Funk U’s career has taken on an international dimension, with performances in England, Malta, Latvia, and Luxembourg, sharing stages with some of the most respected names and collectives across Europe.
He has featured on radio stations in both the UK and Russia, notably collaborating with the globally recognized collective In Beat We Trust, led by the legendary Lady Waks, a milestone that has contributed to his growing reputation in the international breakbeat and bass scenes.
Funk U’s productions have consistently reached the Top 10 on Beatport, released through some of the most respected breakbeat and bass music labels, including Spektra Records, Distortion Records, Need Money Records, Elektroshock Records, Soul Deep Digital, The Pooty Club Records, Beat by Brain Records, and more recently, 83 Label.
Beyond breakbeat and drum & bass, Funk U has also explored the Ro Minimal scene, bringing a deeper, more atmospheric and progressive sound to unique venues such as the iconic Boats sessions along the Hackney Wick canals (London) — showcasing his ability to adapt and innovate across genres and settings.
He is also the founder and director of ETERIA, one of Malta’s leading electronic music promoters, known for curating high-quality underground and mainstream events. At the same time, he heads MIB Crew, a collective dedicated to the rawest and most authentic side of drum & bass and breakbeat.
Funk U has performed at some of Malta’s most renowned venues, including Medasia, Tigulio, 77 Club, Playground, Clique, and Gianpula Village — the island’s largest electronic music complex — playing a key role in refreshing and expanding the local scene with sets that are both dancefloor-oriented and artistically distinctive.
