Anjunadeep welcomes Alan Fitzpatrick to the fray for his debut release on the soul-brimming imprint. Alan Fitzpatrick’s decorated release catalogue and steadfast come up outshone the underground techno diaspora, placing him firmly on the world stage as a headline artist garnering international reverence and undeniable industry support. 

A new sound has emerged from Fitzpatrick’s sonic palette; broader in its range and rooted in experiments with more soulful or deeper influences from across electronica, breakbeat, dub and house. A sound that sits comfortably among the rich, depth-charged records being released by the aforementioned Anjunadeep. 

‘Warning Signs’ is the collaborative effort of both Fitzpatrick and Lawrence Hart, the pair’s debut with the label is a twisting house menagerie with dazzling and thought-provoking sound design. The arrangement rises with groove-stricken drum programming and interweaving atmospheric details, sub-atomic bassline stabs walk hauntingly beneath the composition’s main body.

Every element fluently communicating with its counterpart is what makes this track truly special, appearing to breathe and fluctuate as the melody opens up alongside a flurry of hi-hats and hypnotic vocal hooks. “I first heard Lawrence’s voice in 2015, when I received the promo of ‘Call It Love’ by George Fitzgerald. I was immediately blown away” says Alan.

Moonlit arpeggiators will carry the record into a crescendo of paradisiacal strings and warping low end frequencies, the pair have cultivated the perfect antidote to a year without clubland as we wish our progression back to normal life can be as starry-eyed as this arrangement.

Anjunadeep label favourite Tom Marshall aka Marsh returns with his first solo EP of the year, ‘Heaven’. The EP follows a landmark twelve months for the UK-born, Cincinnati-based producer, who released his debut album ‘Lailonie’ on the label last November, and which has since accumulated over ten million streams.

The ‘Heaven EP’ features three characteristically melodic club cuts including title track ‘Heaven’ and ‘Innocence’. Final track, ‘Liberator’ closes the EP on an upbeat note, and has become a sought-after ID among fans of the label since it was revealed during his sunrise live set from Natural Bridge State Park, Kentucky. This set, since its broadcast last year, has racked up over a million streams.

Brazilian duo Xique-Xique take on Noordhoek with their prevailing, slow burner approach. Distant yet familiar soundscapes permeate and intertwine with dreamy pads, bringing the track to a serene simmer.

It started in March when it became clear that a large part of our existence was being put on hold.

All artists had to clear their agenda. All performances were stopped. I was immediately skeptical about the rapid return of our beloved nightlife, but even more about the inspiration that in my eyes goes hand in hand with nightlife.

I started with adjusting my studio (which had been postponed way too long). In the meantime, there is a lot going on on a social level and of course I look critically at all the decisions that are taken. After all, it has the most influence on my beloved nightlife.

Some Dutch artists decided to go on a hashtag mission. I think it was a well-intended initiative to wake up the world, but far too short-sighted. You can’t capture the complexity of the current problems in 1 hashtag. The artists were publicly accused.
I respect everyone's opinion AND I understand that they can be very different depending on your personal situation. I was just a little angry about the aggressive reactions.

After that day I had a conversation about this with my friend Raf. He asked me a question.
"You're a musician, aren't you?" "Then express yourself in your music and not with words!”
At first I thought it was a bit of bullshit ;-). You have to be able to say what you think.
The next day, however, I started thinking about it and suddenly felt inspired.
I immediately started sketching how I saw it.

It’s made in the emotion of this time. How I experience this all.
I sincerely believe I’ve created a document which is an honest reflection of our time as an Electronic Musician. I hope it brings people together, like music always does.
Art may in any case be intended as a means to point out something to people without everything being immediately clear. I hope I have succeeded in this in the eyes of others, but for myself I am already very satisfied. I may hear the imperfection sometimes, but we live in an imperfect world. I wanted to keep it as unpolished as possible.
Maybe I should have always done that ;-)

I recorded the entire album several times as a “live performance” for myself.
I hope that this live registration will reach everyone as if you were really there.
