The Various Artists collection features 10 tracks from new and emerging artists that have been curated by Mesh and Max Cooper in response to a project on our Discord Community server. The challenge encouraged collaborative and mixed media creative reworks around Max Cooper's 'A Model of Reality' taken from the Unspoken Words audio-visual project. 

'Creative Challenges' are an opportunity to focus activities around a theme. In August 2022, Max Cooper gave away the stems to 'A Model of Reality' for anyone in the community to make a remix. Unbounded by rules and conventions and welcoming any kind of artistic expression… music, code, poetry, short story, video, painting, sculpture… however people feel they could add something in their own way.

We started the Mesh discord community a year ago to open up our interests and work. This beautiful collection of music, videos, poetry, code art and interactive remixes is a small window onto the goings on there. It’s an exciting community to be part of, massive thank you to everyone who created their own take on my project with Kotomi. There was so much to try and choose from and a lot of gems beyond what is on this official release package.

New sounds from the house of YION. Nesstor drops his EP debut on our little label. And with 'Sand & Stones' he also truly delivers a twin pack of sonic worlds. While 'Sand' indulges in the more plucky, clicky and electronic soundscapes, 'Stones' clearly shows a wide array of organic deepness and world music influences. Both songs are equally danceable, driving, enthusiastic and flawlessly produced. Music to our ears.

The Light Within - Episode 5

Last mix of 2022 which is 22 of my favourite tracks from last year that I haven’t played.

Recently I watched the Our Universe documentary series on Netflix. One of the episodes followed a sea turtle and I was fascinated by how they navigate the waters.

Part of their navigation system in the open ocean is the earth’s magnetic field! Depending on the specific location on earth, the magnetic field has a specific inclination and intensity. Sea turtles seem to be able to sense this signature. When turtles are placed experimentally in the magnetic field of a different location with the use of an electric coil, they will adapt swimming directions as if they have changed to the location of the magnetic field!
