Reaching Out (disquiet #600) (FG Remix)

This song is named after a concept from the philosopher Immanuel Kant. He wrote of a Kingdom of Ends, a community where all people acted rationally and showed respect for one another. The term comes from the concept of treating a person as an end unto themselves, and never simply as a means to an end. He said that if people respected the humanity in each other and themselves, and used reason to determine the moral worth of their actions, they could be autonomous rule makers for themselves.

Such a notion, should it be true, would provide a profound understanding of the self, a link between the material body and the immaterial soul. It suggests a map of the mind, not unlike the stars that guide a navigator across the seas."
