Love's Gone (Acoustic Session)

This is a sound sculpture by She's Excited! featuring Clara Francesca and a visual by Gretta Louw for the exhibition #MakeUsVisible x denkFEmale in Munich, Germany, curated by Anne Wichmann, Tabitha Nagy and Amadea Pely.

"The sound and visual monument “Vortex: Jenny Marx” by She’s Excited! (sound and production), Clara Francesca (voice) and Gretta Louw (visuals) honors the German socialist Jenny von Westphalen, Karl Marx’s wife. If you listen with headphones, you can hear that a vortex of deep sounds and depressive thoughts (sourced from Jenny's letters) is juxtaposed with sparkling high synthesizers rising towards the center, representing Jenny’s longing for a lighter life and unconditional love. The visual element is a digital painting that incorporates nature photography and various algorithmic tools and digital collaging techniques. It is positioned on the floor of the AR installation to both delineate a space within which the sound can be experienced and invite the viewer into the subject, Jenny Marx's imagined psychological territory. Clara Francesca writes: “Jenny Marx and I share the same birthday 175 years apart, and a passion to find complementarity between private wealth and commonwealth. I have become obsessed exploring the dualities of darkness/light, pain/pleasure, assertion/surrender, permanence/impermanence, mental distortion/mental hygiene. I have come to view Jenny as a vehicle through which to advocate for the value of humanity: for the valuable human.”
The monument is placed by the Heinrich-Heine-Fountain in Munich, because Jenny was good friends with poet Heine. By this foundtain, there is a physical statue of a woman sitting literally behind bars at Finanzgarten Munich, adding allegorical illusions to Jenny's life."

I usually write or comment something on my songs.

When I published this melody I did not. I sit and I felt like the title...guilty, and I didn't feel like doing it.

About two months ago I had an accident with my car. Yes, the one I use as a work tool and to make my music. The car is not important, it is people's lives.

I've been hundreds of thousands of kilometers and it had never happened to me. The sunlight dazzled me, or maybe my polarized glasses...I don't know...but I could only see the car at the last moment.

Fortunately there were no personal injuries, but I was the cause of the accident, albeit unintentionally. I thought about the people who were traveling in the other vehicle and the person who accompanied me. I still feel that although I no longer hear the noise of the blow that followed me for weeks and disturbed my scant sleep or see my airbag burns

I am not writing this for myself, I am doing it to ask you to be as careful as possible when driving a car. It doesn't matter to be late, it matters to arrive. Rest and stop if you need to. If you don't, you may regret it for the rest of your life.

I made this track when I just wanted something calm to listen to. It’s meant to ease your mind and let you drift into memories, almost like nostalgia taking over for a moment. It’s not about being loud or heavy, just something you can play to relax, think, or even take a quick break from present.

It's difficult to categorize my music into just one genre. It draws influence from trip hop, breakbeat, instrumental and abstract hip hop, heavy rock, techno, minimal, sound art, contemporary, glitch, and more!

I admire many artists, and you might detect their influence in my work. Among the best are Daft Punk and Massive Attack, followed by 90s Ninja Tune artists like Amon Tobin, DJ Vadim, The Herbaliser, and Kid Koala. I've had the pleasure of seeing many of them live at the legendary Ilosaari Rock festivals. I also appreciate French hip hop, particularly Le Peuple de l'herbe. Other inspirations include The Prodigy, Portishead, DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, Gorillaz, Moby, Mono, Thievery Corporation, Future Sound of London, and more. My taste spans from acid jazz and funk to lo-fi and even punk or hard metal, depending on my mood.

I've been making music since the early 2000s, starting with MadTracker software (I am fine with the program name). A few years ago, I transitioned to music production with Ableton Live 10, and I'm currently using version 12. Some of my tracks are experimental, stemming from explorations over the past 20 years, while others are entirely new compositions. This experimentation is perhaps influenced by my background in research—I'm eager to explore new territories, including music.

Nature is my second passion. I tend to a micro-farm in the summer, raising sheep and chickens and restoring it to its traditional biohabitat. In the winter, I evade to the city and brood there, craving for the countryside's spring, summer, and autumn... or dreaming being in hot and sunny place by a sea or river...

I'm open to collaborations, akin to scientific endeavors where novel and exciting outcomes emerge from teamwork. Feel free to reach out!
