After successfully participating in a PXD Musicsoftware competition, I gained my first experiences with composing and arranging electronic music in the late 90s. But then I concentrated on playing the bass in various bands from different musical genres. At the same time, I started my electronic-metal-solo-project BLUTWURST BREATH (1999 - 2010), which was featured on numerous samplers (https://blutwurstbreath.bandcamp.com). In 2011 it was succeeded by the new, more focused electronic-grindcore-project TUNNELBOHRER (https://tunnelbohrer.bandcamp.com), which is still active today. In autumn 2021, my bands, in which I had been working as a bassist since 2006, unfortunately broke up. This was the occasion to revive my old passion for electronic music: KASTROPODUX was born. KASTROPODUX is devoted to the synthwave-sound of the 80s and the techno-style of the early 90s, sometimes combined with rock-guitars.

So there's all kinds of stuff on this page, but after months of schizophrenic debates about who was playing with who and who took the lead while doing it, finally, the decision was made: all my alter egos got together and decided to form a band. From 2020 on new tracks are created under the moniker Gruppo Infernal. Only pure MMTJ tracks will still be named as such. 

Gruppo Infernal still relies on my work as Me, my Thumb and Jack, an ongoing quest for a liberating approach to sound creation where the human body acts as an oscillator amplifying the natural 50hz hum. Direct live recording, improvisations and delay loops only using analog filters and effects. No editing, no overdubs. Gruppo Infernal adds digital treatment to this original sound material. 

UnterPitch was an alter ego using samples & synths.
Bleached Coffins was a one-off project using guitars.

It's difficult to categorize my music into just one genre. It draws influence from trip hop, breakbeat, instrumental and abstract hip hop, heavy rock, techno, minimal, sound art, contemporary, glitch, and more!

I admire many artists, and you might detect their influence in my work. Among the best are Daft Punk and Massive Attack, followed by 90s Ninja Tune artists like Amon Tobin, DJ Vadim, The Herbaliser, and Kid Koala. I've had the pleasure of seeing many of them live at the legendary Ilosaari Rock festivals. I also appreciate French hip hop, particularly Le Peuple de l'herbe. Other inspirations include The Prodigy, Portishead, DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, Gorillaz, Moby, Mono, Thievery Corporation, Future Sound of London, and more. My taste spans from acid jazz and funk to lo-fi and even punk or hard metal, depending on my mood.

I've been making music since the early 2000s, starting with MadTracker software (I am fine with the program name). A few years ago, I transitioned to music production with Ableton Live 10, and I'm currently using version 12. Some of my tracks are experimental, stemming from explorations over the past 20 years, while others are entirely new compositions. This experimentation is perhaps influenced by my background in research—I'm eager to explore new territories, including music.

Nature is my second passion. I tend to a micro-farm in the summer, raising sheep and chickens and restoring it to its traditional biohabitat. In the winter, I evade to the city and brood there, craving for the countryside's spring, summer, and autumn... or dreaming being in hot and sunny place by a sea or river...

I'm open to collaborations, akin to scientific endeavors where novel and exciting outcomes emerge from teamwork. Feel free to reach out!
