I’m not just a DJ. I’m a storyteller with basslines, a vibe architect, a connector of heads and hearts. Founder of UTH (Unite The Heads) — a movement built for truth‑seekers, peace‑lovers, and floor‑fillers who believe music is the purest form of connection. And then there’s the Steve Miller Band chapter in my DNA. I learned early how to be the Joker, the Smoker, the Midnight Toker, the Gangster of Love — not just as words in a song, but as a life stance. It’s about moving through the world with charisma, a little mischief, and an unshakable belief in the magic of the moment. It’s about flipping the energy when the room feels heavy. About knowing when to drop a track that makes everyone forget their troubles — and remember why they came out in the first place.

For me, Love is Evol. Not evil — evolution. The light that cuts through the noise, the fear, the stress. I’ve seen too many settle for darkness because it feels safe. But that’s not my path. PausePlay: The Handrum and Bass Journey

PausePlay is an Indigenous music creator and mashup artist embarked on a journey of sonic exploration. Inspired by the rhythms of drum and bass and the soulful melodies of Indigenous hip hop and traditional singing, he sought to merge these diverse influences into a unique sound. The spark ignited while watching DJ Shub on CBC Music’s YouTube series “DJ Shub War Club” in 2021, where the track “Indomitable” at 161bpm led to a revelation of its compatibility with the drum and bass tempo of 172bpm.

Delving deeper into this musical fusion, he discovered Fawn Woods’ track “Love is Real” at 76bpm, which, after adjustments to 86bpm for halftiming with drum and bass, seamlessly intertwined with the rhythmic landscape. Critical key adjustments were made to harmonize vocals with the track’s melody, resulting in the birth of “Handrum and Bass.”

This newfound sound wasn’t just a musical experiment; it became a digital pathway deeply rooted in Indigenous culture, weaving a tapestry of tradition and storytelling. From the groovy vibes of Indigenous Funk to the gritty beats of DDD dark hip hop, his creations captivated audiences far and wide.

With each beat and melody, his story resonated, bridging cultures and creating a harmonious blend of past and present, tradition and innovation. And as the stage lights dimmed and the music began to play, the narrative of PausePlay continued to unfold, leaving audiences mesmerized by the magic of Handrum and Bass!

FunkinRight is all about fun and funky party music, and having a good time. 

This Canadian funk slangin producer has released over 23 tracks since 2019, with support from labels like Breakbeat Paradise, Render Recordings, Twists of Time, Wildfire Recordings, and B Nasty Beats. His genre jumping DJ style paved the way for multi-genre production, where he continues to push the limits and make beats outside the box.

FunkinRight’s musical CV is as long as it is funky, and he’s shared the stage many of his own inspirations including Askillz, Featurecast, Father Funk, JFB, Megan Hamilton, Phibes, Pineo & Loeb, The Sponges, WBBL, X-Ray Ted, and more. FunkinRight has also been blessed with funky sets at many amazing events including Burn in the Forest, Curiosity, FozzyFest, Freezerburn, Restart, Wicked Woods, Vibrant, and many more.
