Much like a fine wine, the newest EP from French producer CloZee gets better with time; each listen unveils one more layer in her deliberate and memorable productions. "The Poetic Assassin" is five tracks which are simultaneously fresh yet nostalgic, providing what could be a stunning soundtrack to a movie which has not yet been made. Chloé Herry showcases her myriad of musical talents at every turn, from live strings and keys to intricate drum programming and glitched out percussion. The progression through the album could be likened to the ebb and flow of the tides, as stirring melodies fluidly give way to captivating basslines before returning into familiar emotive territory.

Happy 4/20, you flower-igniting, THC-ingesting rascals! We’ve got a special release on this sacred day from Colorado producer/funk-slinger, @FunkStatik, that will be a necessary addition to every 4/20 playlist. ‘Let’s Get It’ is a smooth, refreshing, and deceptively danceable piece that takes us on a blissful ride through melodic funk town on the back of a squinty-eyed camel. 

Featuring a multitude of different textures and flavors, ‘Let’s Get It’ showcases FunkStatik’s ability to create a balanced, multi-dimensional listening experience. We begin with a spacious intro that establishes depth, as the synths seem to arise and fall away as if moving close to us for a moment before disappearing back into the silence from which they emerged. This mystique evolves into a groovy, uplifting beat with creative sub-bass work and cooling synth melodies that evoke a rising feeling within. FunkStatik then grounds us back down with some fat, juicy bass textures that satisfy the low end, as a captivating new synth (reminiscent of an interdimensional pan flute) carries the melody. Throughout the piece, we hear every element evolve and progress in a unique, but somehow cohesive manner. Everything from the subtle, staccato piano accents to the meaty bass growls contribute to the dynamic, ever-progressing mood of the song, and even the vocal sample that invites one to “get it” changes throughout as we move into different sections. You will inevitably close your eyes and drift away from the illusory prison of your thoughts as the vibrations work their magic, and you’ll gradually move into a more spacious and open mind state as you feel your body moving to the undeniable groove. 

‘Let’s Get It’ truly provides a cleansing and refreshing experience for the listener, so we recommend indulging in some of today’s plant of honor, closing your eyes, and diving headfirst into this piece of art.
