A year of discoveries. Thinking back through the last year, there has been a plethora of fantastic labels, and artists that have passed under the Sundays banner. This Sunday and month in general also marks the second year of monthly playlists, and guest mixes. The latter of which is our focus for today as we welcome an incredible producer, Inhmost. From beat to beat-less, his refined approach to crafting ambient mixes provides listeners with auditory tales that flow so well, all while working in a variety of moods and feelings. The break on the Underworld mix epitomizes 90s electronic music: 909 kicking, synths stuttering, keys arpeggiating, guitars playing, and vocals blending seamlessly into the sound. Sure it's only a few seconds, but that sort of summarizes that short period where electronic dance music was a really fresh genre that hadn't really developed set boundaries and where everyone was open to its possibilities. Nearly 30 years later, you can still hear the optimism in the music...

Trentemøller started music in the late 1990s with different indie rock projects. In 2006, Trentemøller released his debut album The Last Resort. Trentemøller's later music has been described as synthwave and pop. His early tracks (especially The Last Resort) show influences drawing from early downtempo and trip hop, minimal, glitch, and darkwave with an often cinematic feel. He cited amongst his influences Siouxsie and the Banshees, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Joy Division, and Depeche Mode. His music has also been used by film directors, including Oliver Stone (Savages), Pedro Almodóvar (The Skin I Live In), and Jacques Audiard (Rust and Bone).

There is a discernible revival for the short lived ambient-house genre. This is surely a sign that the 90's are getting the retro love it deserves, and I'm all for it.  Interest for this era has never been higher in eons. Those tracks are full of space-alien references, obscure movies from the 90's, meditation lectures from gurus of that time and dreamy pads with acid leads. Most of these tracks found their way onto the shelves of many discerning listeners in the 90's thanks to a frothy mix of dubwise ambient house and melodic electronica aimed for post-club melting sessions.
