Jeanines' 2019 self-titled debut was an indiepop tour-de-force that drew from a deep set of DIY pop influences, garnering attention from well beyond the international pop underground. Now they're back with "Don't Wait For A Sign," and it's a real gem; shaped by the pandemic, it's deeper and a bit darker than their debut and ultimately even more satisfying. The new single "Who's In The Dark" is 90 seconds of indiepop perfection, hearkening back to everything from 60s folk/sunshine-pop legends Wendy & Bonnie to post-Black Tambourine Pam Berry projects like The Shapiros and The Castaway Stones. Alicia's beautiful vocal melodies wrap themselves around the tune like a honeyed blanket, and the result is supremely beguiling.
