Furious Freaks - Didgeridoo [PREMIERE]

Among all the electronic music trends coming and going like waves through Czech playlists there are few constants; drum & bass is however one of them. It is built on strong foundations of tireless fans willing to dance the night away again and again, upcoming and experienced djs looking for new tracks and mixdowns, passionate promoters and last but not least labels caring for producers and giving them a chance to get their music out into the world.

One such label is Hoofbeats Music founded in 2016 by members of Hoofbeats dj crew. This lively bunch is responsible not only for monthly events in Olomouc and its surroundings with foreign headliners more often than not, but also for their own open air festivals and numerous trips to other events around both Czechia and Slovakia. That was however not enough for Petr Vicher (Qo), Marek Vehovský (Computerartist) and David Polášek (Joshu4) – after djing and producing they wanted to release their own music as well.

The first single was one of Qo's own with his long term buddy Computerartist. Members of the original dj crew provided the following releases up until 2018 the label was joined by Holotrope, Kutlo and the first truly foreign artist – french Bl4ck Owlz. Next was Changing Faces, The Clamps, Gancher & Ruin, Agressor Bunx or TR Tactics, steadily turning a local label into an international family of musicians.

It became a Hoofbeats Music tradition to put out an anniversary compilation. The first was a look back at the initial two years, offering original tracks as well as remixes and VIPs. Only two years passed when Hoofbeats assembled a mighty list of almost 40 tracks. This time however on the eve of their fifth anniversary they decided to up their game again, focusing on quality rather than quantity and bringing 13 tracks from producers fresh and well known in the family. Original Hoofbeats crew is represented by Qo, Modetech, Computerartist or Symplex featuring Nuklear MC and Holotrope is also no stranger. Changing Faces has joined forces with Lottie Woodward to make a fifth song in a row together while Furious Freaks invited Anna Vaverková into their studio. Variants already have a mark on Hoofbeats with their single The Painter / Seasons but Diffe is a completely new talent. Kutlo and Trilo close the ranks of Slovakian guests and the only remix of the whole album belongs to Shmidoo, also the artist behind the cover illustration.

The Hoofbeats Family LP brings all sorts of musicians united under Hoofbeats Music and shows their real talent. Something for fans of smooth liquid funk or brain melting neuro while preserving the main focus of Hoofbeats since the day the label was founded – hard hitting double drop ready dancefloor bangers. The spirit stays alive: to party our way with our family.

It began with a low rumble from all degrees of the horizon, and envelopment of portentous sound that seemed to emanate from everywhere and nowhere all at once. From high above, fluctuations in the jetstream whipped the clouds into a frenzy, stretching, swirling, and blending them into a slate of blackest-grey from within which thunder and lightning began to add their voices to the ensuing cacophony. As the roar on the horizon grew, the very air itself seemed to slip and surge around the sonics that cut through it, churning it from stillness into a great gale that nipped with icy jaws at the flesh of any caught within its flow. Then, as though in a perfectly discordant concert with the air above, the ground itself began to shake, roiling in opposite motion as the second wheel of a planetary mill set to grind those upon the surface into dust. From within the fissures that scarred the Earth’s surface poured rivers of magma that made a cruel mockery of the world’s aqueous veins as they brought death to all with which they intersected and poisoned the air with toxic gasses long kept locked beneath the earth. Those who strove yet to live within this hellish world could not but hear a single voice in their minds, chiding them for forgetting what had always been known, dooming them to watch as the ENSUING CATACLYSM consumed the world that had once been their home.

AGRESSOR BUNX stand before the EATBRAIN horde as the heralds of the ENSUING CATACLYSM as they deliver their second full album to the waiting ears of the label’s faithful. The 18-track span of ENSUING CATACLYSM features the full breadth of the Ukrainian duo’s unrelenting approach to drum & bass as they meld key aspects of its many subgenres to imbue their album with apocalyptic audio energy set to inspire fanatical chaos in even their most seasoned of listeners.

Hailing from the Czech Republic, Furious Freaks is a Prague based Drum & Bass project that started its journey in 2012. Since then, its members Bonduel, Hayppa, Avenues and Just Flyp have been making their mark on the scene by steady releases on BNCexpress, Space Pirate Recordings, Empire Recordings, Sinful Maze, Trust Audio and others. You’ll often find them on the club and festival circuit, including performances at the legendary Let It Roll festival.
 
In 2014, they joined the Bass Drop project with whom they organised regular events in one of the most famous clubs in Prague. Soon after they released their first EP ever Born In Acid as a self-release. Their first label releases came in autumn 2016 on BNCexpress. With the intention to unite the Czech & Slovak music scene, they released the Freaks & Friends LP in summer 2018 which was later remixed by other Czech and Slovak producers such as A-Cray or Ripple. Later on, they added another release ‘Knife’ on Modular Carnage Recordings.
 
In 2019, Furious Freaks released their first music video ‘Na Stage’ together with Magenta and MC Brejchus which intelligently blended rap and drum & bass. The next releases included collaborations with Ripple for tracks such as ‘Space Moth’ (Space Pirate Recordings), followed by tunes ‘Time’ and ‘Spirit’ as part of the Bassline Resurrect EP. They also contributed to the rising Czech label Sinful Maze with their tunes ‘Tremble’ and ‘Goblin’. Developing their sound further, they explore new techniques and ways to collaborate with fellow artists, notably with various vocalists whom they consider to be an inherent part of Drum & Bass. This is the rationale behind the collaborations ‘Blind Lines’ ft. MC Shot (BNCexpress), ‘Systems’ ft. Lifesize MC (Empire Recordings) or ‘Own Way’ ft. Anna Vaverka (Hoofbeats Music). The year 2022 marked their premiere on the UK labels with their tune ‘Tribe’ on Trust Audio. You can find upcoming releases on Nemesis Recordings and Lockdown Recordings.
 
They strive to provide their audience with dynamic and original tunes without a rigid categorization into subgenres. They ignore established standards and combine various elements to bring an original touch to their music. The common denominator of Furious Freaks’ tunes is simply Drum & Bass!
