Time Horizon II | XTIME002

The first in a series of three 12" samplers featuring a selection of tracks from our 'Ten Years Of Phonica' compilation, released in 2014. 

Tigersushi and Crowdspacer boss Joakim kicks off the first 12" with melancholic masterpiece 'EAHR'. A prolific and sonically diverse producer, his balearic-flavoured remixes over the years for the likes of Antena and Max Berlin shines through on this one. Up next is the enigmatic Panoram, a shop favourite since his brilliant 'Accents' 12" arrived back in 2012. The lysergic 'Alpha Marmara' hits all the right spots once again.

On the b-side edit-masters and rare record connaisseurs Psychemagik contribute the string-laden 'Triumph Of The Gods', an ambitious Axelrod-esque modern funk gem. Finally, Alex Egan resurrects his work as The Draughtsman one last time with the previously unreleased track 'Fade To Green' - a deep, atmospheric house/techno cut recorded during the same 2010/11 sessions as his '1694 EP'.

A-side for trancing ~ B-side for dancing. All tracks stem from the late 90’s/early noughties giving this EP it’s ravey vibe in typical dubby Rantzen fashion.

Erika de Casier - Little Bit (Sydlandsmix by Erika de Casier and El Trick) (STW Premiere)

Their journey had taken them to the bottom of a huge range of towering mountains, each covered in a thick glistening blanket of snow. They began the steady incline up the nearest and smallest mountain, eager to find out what lay at the top. The air around was fresh and crisp, making it the perfect conditions to ascend the slopes. But as they made their move, a force stopped them in their tracks. An invisible field that they couldn't cross. They were stuck at the foothills.

Belgian producer Placid One lands on Shaw Cuts with his Heroes Of The East EP, a story of love, pride and rivalry. This marks his third EP, following releases on Ransom Note Records and Nebulae, and sees him dive head first into pulsating drums, bright pads and menacing soundscapes.

‘I Feel How This Night Should Look’ is an album with a phenomenal backstory. It spans back over a decade back to when Tom Coveney and Danny McLewin first met in 2008 and produced the ten tracks over an intensive two year period following the birth of Psychemagik.  It was recorded at a number of esteemed locations primed for sonic craft including Kate Bush’s old workspace, George Martin’s Air Studios Lyndhurst Hall, where the duo recorded a seventeen piece string section, and Toe Rag Studios recording drums onto tape.  

This album is a true labour of love.  The first taste comes via the effortlessly smooth and immediately deep ‘We Can Be One feat. Quinn Lamont Luke’.  An invigorating and ethereal cut offset with the acid rifts and the Balearic vocals by the New York artist.  ‘We Can Be One’ beautifully lays down the foundations and entry point into the endlessly unique and diverse world of Psychemagik.

DC Promo Tracks #503: Psychemagik "Seahorse" (feat. Norma Winstone)

The galaxy burst into life as the spaceship careered between exploding stars and flying comets. Out here in the depths of space there was little daylight and all that surrounded their tiny rocket was a dense foggy black but for the occasional sporadic boom and a flash. Noise echoed all around, a drone like sound which shook your insides to the very core, it was sickening yet strangely pleasant to feel so at odds with ones self amidst chaotic circumstances. This was living, this was life. That which lay back down there was not a comparison to the wild and wonderful experiences that you might find when dancing between the stars on a cosmic exploration...

Nigm appears on a new release titled "Crysta Ampullaris". The split EP is forthcoming and will be released by La Forge collective: the record itself is a top tier showcase of broody electronics and pensive dancefloor groovers.

This hour sees J Wax take a different approach than usual to his selections. Allow the slow and brooding dancefloor melancholia to take hold.

Jonny Sriraxa & Luci B's indomitable sonic system, Nostalgia Futura is a project born during the first confinement period in Madrid, Spain, at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis. The overwhelming sensations of physical, social, and emotional detention painted the horizon with a nostalgic hue..."so we felt a certain type of nostalgia for this particular future..." And now, in their sets and performances, Jonny Sriraxa and LuciB aim to transmit the entirety of that accumulated energy through rhythms oriented towards the dance floor--evoking reflection through motion-- and flowing across a variety of genres, histories, and influences that fuse the old, new, and still-evolving.
