The prolific producer Ben Pest has spent the last few years perfecting his unique take on electro, techno, acid and experimental electronica.

After the incredible response to his first release on Orson, the track Mouth Lawson was favoured by Helena Hauff and Dj Stingray. He has seen releases on Mechatronica, NSA, Love Love, I Love Acid to name a few… dropping his live set at Glastonbury last year and and set to tour Europe in 2023….

Ben Pest returns back on to Orson with his fresh and forward thinking styles for this EP, show casing his versatility as a work class producer.

Juno's review : "Having established notoriety for his live hardware-based sets, Ben Pest's latest electro cut, 'Robotic Sales', out on Brighton-based label, Orson, sees the incredible energy of his live sets made flesh - or vinyl, at least. Opening track, 'Robotic Sales' (Acid Redux) kicks the EP off to a flying start. The perfect balance of blistering acid pads and powerful electro percussion, the roboticised vocal sample, paired with 80s-esque synths gives this an undoubtedly classic feel. By contrast, the relatively pared back 'Wobbly Eggs' explores a clever inversion of the typical dance track structure, with key melodic components emerging in the breakdown and disappearing out of view when the main body of the track returns. 'Beefcase', the most acid-heavy track on the release, is a guaranteed floor-filler while the final track, 'Charizard Dream', is perfect for those moments of peak-time, out-of-your-body elation. A seriously strong EP from Ben Pest."

DJ KENNY MULLIGAN -LIVE FROM THE ABYSS 2017

One of 2 sets I played in one night in Berlin back in February. This one from Varvet at Suicide Circus. Starting point, techno bass breaks, a murky, out on a limb middle, before culminating with a handful of 90s techno floor shakers.

And from what I can remember, it's probably about half of my set secretly rolled out later on at the Freaky 23 party. 

The first 30 minutes is missing but here is the remaining two and a half hours.

Herehear (Are You There...)

Mix number 22 comes all the way from Barcelona, in the form of Franco Gonzalez AKA Dj Frankie. Born in the west side of Buenos Aires, at age 17 he launched his first track on a 12" V.A with Dax J, Audio Injection and Cleric, and before long was picked up by Prima Luce to release 'Encrypted Sound' with his brother Herman Gonzalez. His infamous cycle of nights SQUIRT and ThisOrder in Buenos Aires led him to play in some great venues in both Paraguay and Uraguay, such as Sequence and Distrito. In 2017 he started his new live act in Mutacion Geneti-K and begun playing under the alias DJ Frankie, to push forward a new project inspired by a sound that goes from the futuristic atmospheres of the mecha-electro to the deep worlds of subacquatic breaks. He moved to Barcelona back in 2018 and was picked up by Rinse FM Paris, where he currently has a residence. This year his nuclear productions will be stamped on wax with his first solo release on Natural Sciences, the 'Radioactive Westside' EP. Big things coming from this man, happy listening!

James Shinra's whirlwind year is rounded off with some final words via Craigie Knowes.
