We know what you're thinking: why did it take so long to get Binh on the RA Podcast? There's no easy answer, especially given that he's been a favourite of ours for over a decade now. So to make up for lost time, the revered digger lands on the series with a tantalising three-hour mix, recorded live at Nowadays in New York earlier this year.

Crammed with rare and unreleased gems spanning house, techno, and electro, RA.989 is heavy on drama, catching the Düsseldorf native in unbridled performance mode.

This is Binh in 2025. But rewind across the past two decades and you'll find a DJ who excels in pretty much any situation, whether warming up for Zip or Margaret Dygas, going back-to-back with masters like Nicolas Lutz or rolling out solo sets that stretch across ten or even 12 hours.

He's acted out all these scenarios most often at Berlin institution Club der Visionaere, the cosy canalside club that became a kind-of spiritual home. (He'd sometimes spend every night of the week there, before parenting duties got the better of him.)

To play for half a day you need a lot of records, and the backbone of Binh's craft has long been a freakish passion for vinyl. Along with Lutz, Vera, and others in CDV's orbit, he approaches the pursuit of wax, new and old, with next-level dedication and a fondness for blind buys. 

That's true of RA.989, although among the un-Shazamables are many tracks that are either out or coming out on Binh's popular Time Passages label. The mix finds him on a house-y tip, luxuriating in roomy basslines, driving 303s and twinkly melodies—with just the right amount of evil. Hold onto your hats, folks! New Jersey's very own Danner (US) is back with a tech house beast that'll have speakers quaking and dancefloors shaking—hello, 'Babalica'! The man is on a roll, and his latest offering lands on none other than Sacha Robotti's Sloth Acid, an LA label that's as much about the groove as it is about the threads.

Danner (US) has been flipping the script in the scene, leaving a trail of deep grooves and melodic mayhem on labels like Desert Hearts and Rawthentic. The guy's got a knack for drilling down into the soul of tech house, and 'Babalica' puts that talent front and center. 

This track is pure dancefloor artillery. Imagine a bassline so chunky it feels like it's got its own zip code. The drums have a tribal flair that's all about those warehouse vibes. Beyond the A13 - music from the outer reaches of East London and Essex

Growing up on the edge of London, where the east end meets Essex, and industrial wasteland meets suburbia, my life was always reliant on four main arteries to get me to school, to work or to parties: the A13, the District Line, the London-Southend railway and the number 5 bus route. Running from the heart of London to the edges of the Thames estuary - I can’t imagine how much time I’ve spent on these trains, buses and roads looking out the window, at a landscape totally bereft of beauty, but to me, somehow always full of life and wonder.

This mix consists entirely of music that was either made or released within the areas touched or bordered by these transport links, between 1990-1997… from Canning Town, Grays, Stratford, Horndon, East Ham, Benfleet and other stops in between. Why dedicate a mix to this area? Because this is music from where I grew up, from when I was growing up. Most of it was ignored or overlooked or just forgotten - a mix of progressive house, trance, acid house, techno, breakbeat, tribal and deep house, all sounds that I like to combine when I’m DJing. It’s the sound of home…
