Coming into orbit late November PS001.2 continues our dancefloor focussed explorations...

On the A-side Point Guard returns to the label with his razor-sharp electro outing ‘Odyssey’. An emotional expedition that harnesses dancefloor euphoria with a powerfully burning bassline. Joining forces to complete the A side is Melbourne producer Disrute and label head Andy Garvey. Here an ever-evolving synthline propels you forward throughout the track that builds infinitely but pauses just to release Garvey’s mesmerising vocal, ‘NRG’.  

Flip the axis and you will find swirling synths and scattered percussion that creates the murky club weapon that is emerging Sydney producer PMA’s ‘Hek’. Completing the release, Roy Mills brings you to a full rotation with ‘Aquatic Pressure’. His jittery breakbeat cut that slows to a half step mid way and returns with odd-ball synth mayhem.

The first release on Emile Facey’s Plant43 Recordings sets the tone for his new label with a showcase of his trademark shimmering, melodic electro. The three tracks take the listener through an array of deeply emotional soundscapes while keeping the electro-funk beats to the fore, another outstanding display of a unique style nurtured through over 20 years of production. A co-founder of London’s Bleep43 crew, Facey has been promoting underground electro and techno since the late 90’s. As a producer he’s been releasing records since 2005 with a string of releases on respected scene favourites such as Central Processing Unit, Frustrated Funk, Semantica, Shipwrec and Cultivated Electronics, among others. He has played live alongside DJ Stingray, ERP/Convextion, Surgeon, Legowelt, DJ Overdose, Urban Tribe, I.F., Svreca, Datassette among many others.

Previously established as an event and podcast series based in Dublin, Yin Yang signifies its next step with a vibrant compilation of tracks which touch on dark undertones of techno right through to brighter mutations of DnB, hard-hitting jungle, futuristic electro and beyond. 

"Combining a stellar pool of sounds from across the spectrum of electronic music, Yin Yang marks a new beginning with the launch of its label and subsequent release of an exceptional 25 track various artist compilation. Complex Contrast is an amalgamation of distinct ideas, forming a cohesive soundscape to truly represent the label's essence."

When opposites attract and align into the cycles of primary chaos and energy, seeping into elements of movement, dance and music to result in a new state of unwavering balance, the compilation is a prime example. 

 ‘Complex Contrast’ mirrors the vision of the imprint as a whole, bringing together a multitude of textures, tones and themes that collide and weave into one other for a visceral experience. A deluge of different soundscapes complete the V/A and every artist featured has brought an element of their own aesthetic to shape the direction of the label. Spiralling dark rhythms from Blue Hour, Gritty and unease mutation from Mutant Joe, cosmic melodies from SAAH, futuristic sounds from False Persona, D&B goodness from Ani Klang and Kessler, screwface techno from Rune Bagge and Offtrack and many more have come in strong to signify a resounding turning point in Yin Yang’s trajectory.

The compilation breathes in tandem with the listener and offers a slant in the shadows of what else is to come on Yin Yang’s schedule.
