Best New Minimal / Deep Tech: December

Influential Italian DJ and producer, LEON, launches his new label FUTURA, with his single Get Back Up, featuring vocalist Jones 2.0. Fellow Italian Koko and London duo Frankel & Harper are also onboard to deliver the remixes.
Well respected by his peers, LEON has played around the globe in renowned clubs from Amnesia and DC10 in Ibiza to Rex Club Paris, Fabric London and beyond. On top of this has been a resident for Marco Carola’s Music On since its inception in 2012. Moving into a new phase of his career, he has selected some of the finest artists to create a highly identifiable and intelligent audio brand, expertly combining the forward thinking sounds of rominimal, minimal-tech and deep tech-house with artists like Janeret, Harry Wills, Sakro, Sublee, Youandewan, Lucio, Koko, Priku, Mike D, Liou, Alessio Viggiano and many more, all involved in creating the labels sound concept.  
For the first release LEON teams up with Jones 2.0 to create an infectious track with an urban style vocal. Old-school house beats and an acid infused bassline are combined with Jones’s vocal to deliver an inspiring house cut that is perfect to launch the label. LEON explains, “this track was made in a difficult moment of my life linked to the pandemic and the lockdown, I imagined that people needed motivation, not to fall into depression and together we looked for a text to give hope and energy. I wanted to create a more electro house sound with some Detroit references.”
 The release comes with two remixes, the first of which is from Koko. The Italian has been on form in the last twelve months with releases on Fuse sister label Locus, and ANOTR’s No Art label. His remix is a delicate take on the original, making this an addictive, summertime track. For the second remix, The Council Work label bosses Frankel & Harper step up the tempo with some UK flavour, adding garage style beats and heavy bassline.

Italian duo, Proudly People, have had a string of highly rated releases on labels from different countries around the world like Moon Harbour, Desolat, Elrow, Inmotion Music, Rawthentic, Moan and many more which has created the duo international recognition and support. They've not only toured all around Italy however all around the globe taking in venues like Amnesia Ibiza, Space Ibiza, Studio 338 London, Supermarket Zurich, Club102 Neuss, La Feria Santiago del Chile, Output New York, Treehouse Miami and many more.

The release comes with two remixes, the first of which is from the ever impressive Luuk Van Dijk. The Dark Side Of The Sun label owner has been rising consistently for the last few years with a string of heavyweight releases on labels like No Art, Heavy House Society, Solid Grooves, Do Not Sleep, Tamango and his own DSOTS imprint. On his remix, he takes No Sweat, strips it down to his trademark style beats, adding an old school flavoured organ bassline, and adding a touch of mystery with some eerie background sounds which combine perfectly with the other elements of the original.

Buena Vida resident Max Dean steps up to deliver the next installment on Metafloor Records. The four-track EP features three original tracks from the man himself with a unique remix from Max Telaer.

The release is packed with vibes and energy and is sure to ignite dance floors across clubland this winter.

With 'LTOT’ Max teases us with his bouncy and skippy drums and a powerful, uncompromising bass line. 'Earn Ya Keep' offers a more vintage flavor with a combination of old skool house stabs and 909 drums.
