This week we are joined by Art of Tones, whose house and disco centric sound has established himself as a highly regarded artist.

Kicking off the Art of Tones moniker in 2006, Ludovic Llorca delivered a series of EP on the iconic 20/20 Vision label. He has since released on the likes of Toytonics, Glitterbox, and Fred Everything’s Lazy Days label.

The French-based artist has recently released, ‘Freaky Music’, a rolling house groover with colourful pads and dance-inducing drums.

Luqe is regarded as one of city's pioneers of Hip-Hop music in nightlife with almost 20 years of experience under his belt. He's opened for the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff, Cash Money and played at notable Hip-Hop nights like Ghetto Heaven and Flava in KL.

Roshan hosts the first 30 minutes of the show with music from Erick Sermon, DJ Premiere, J Dilla & more before handing it over to DJ Luqe for his boom bap inspired 60 minute guest mix on this weeks show. Tune in!

Since signing to Dam Swindle’s label, Heist and releasing Kill Frenzy EP, the pair rapidly cemented themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They have provided remixes for the likes of Kraak & Smaak, Groove Armada, and Joey Negro’s The Sunburst Band.

The duo, who have played all over the world, have recently returned to Heist Recordings for their summer-ready release, Blue Steel EP.

Future Disco Radio - 096 - Fouk Guest Mix

Gina Sabatini is one of the best known for her hypnotic downbeat and slow-house sets. Coming from a diverse music background, her passion has always been the dancefloor. As a passionate dancer before she started DJing in Berlin, Gina immersed herself in growing a loyal wide audience and keeping listeners on many sweet places engaged with her aesthetic of the slower side of underground dance music. Gina tells melodic, deep stories and her devotion to the music speaks through her captivating and powerful sets, but it's all about the groove, when she’s dropping some low-tempo-deep-house-joints. After 10 years in Germany's capital, Gina moved to her new adopted city Leipzig to start a club project with two of her best friends - ost:end is the lived utopia of many different cultural workers, curators, producers and DJs.

I played this set at our first ost:end open air on a warm summer night in June 2021 in Leipzig. After three hard lockdowns, finally we could do what we love again - create parties in sound and vision. For me it was the first time playing in front of an audience for months and I could finally share the music I love with other people on a great sound system. That was such a big experience for me. For this gig I wanted to mix tracks that got me through these crazy times and remind me of my musical roots - bouncy house music.

Future Disco Radio - 104 - Sebb Junior Guest Mix

Roger Sanchez has had an illustrious career over the last 25+ years, starting out in New York City in the 1980s immersing himself in the graffiti, breakdance and DJ culture.  Turning to production to satisfy his passion for music, Sanchez recorded the now legendary “Luv Dancin” under the Underground Solution alias, and was released on the fledgling Strictly Rhythm label in 1990.

Since then, Grammy Awards, global DJ gigs and residencies, and a huge catalogue of music and remixes, from his own productions under various monikers like Rhythm Factor, DV8, Tribal Infusion and the S-Man, to remixes for mega stars like Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and The Police, Roger Sanchez has achieved huge status over the years.  Roger currently runs the Stealth Records label, and over the years  was also instrumental in the Narcotic and R-Senal imprints.  His music has also graced labels such as Maxxi Records, Ultra and Defected, and he also continues to broadcast the hugely popular Release Yourself radio shows.

Roots Of Vinyl #6 • Jazz & Funk

The transition between Spring and Summer is usually a time filled with so much hope, and yet this year I find myself, unsurprisingly, stuck in a mire of sad music and foggy ambient evenings. I feel like I'm 15 again, actively searching out songs for heartbreak and longing and just bathing in them day after day. I'm not sure how much other people can relate, but I've found myself going through wild swings of emotion and outlook during the last few months. Sometimes almost euphoric about the possibilities ahead and other times pulled down so far into the realities of the moment that doing almost anything becomes paralyzing. One of the few constants has been preparing and then weirdly performing these mixes each month. It's a magic thing because when I'm done I always feel like the mixes sound both like my current state but also some level of escape that I'm unconsciously reaching for. I'm not entirely sure what I'm reaching for at the moment, but I can tell you that these songs made me feel things that I haven't felt in a while. I feel that longing again. I hope it's melancholy doesn't drag you down, but instead gives you a few drops of hope. Summer isn't here yet but it's coming...
