Music to instill a sense of wonder and beauty in our world.  Music Ive always wanted to hear on a big rig soundsystem at the foothills of the Sierra Mountains.  Truly an honor to grace this space with noise.  Some absolute gems were picked for this sonic soundscape that never in over 10 years would I have thought they would be heard outside the bedroom.

Es war ein Fest, das Subardo Festival 2025, mit euch, mit allen Artists, Unterstützer:innen und Tänzer:innen! Lasst euch das sagen, drücken, umarmen! You go around it again, think for a moment, lose your concentration, and it still stays round?  - No. Then you're just like us! It's difficult to find the words when events could simply remain as they are for all eternity, because the future seems so far away. It was a celebration, the Subardo Festival 2025, with you, with all the artists, supporters and dancers! Let us tell you that, in hugging and squeezing! Let's still revel in these sets a bit and look forward to the circumstance that time knows no respite and our thoughts are already striving towards new ideas on the horizon. 🌅❤️‍🔥🫶🏼

Luk LeChuck - Subardo Festival 2025

Recorded live at Kulturkellerei, Nürnberg, Germany – hosted by LFO Kru.
Wookii delivers a deep Drum and Bass session packed with rolling basslines and punchy percussion.

On top: a raw live cypher featuring a rotating lineup of MCs spitting straight from the gut. Guests on the mic include Hugo Betrugo [LFO Kru] and Müsli MC – bringing bars with zero pretense.

Recorded this mix as a part of @kindledlove for folks at Piknik. The hour spent recording it gave me more than a couple of moments of amusement and joy. Gorgeous pieces of work by artists like Foxtail, Kodama, Mungk, Ourman, Padma Purana, Systemics, Glass Beams, Eric Hilton, and more to thank for this.

This mix felt special because it came together with almost no preparation in the usual sense. I had just come back from the mountains, letting it's magnificence reset my perspective. That energy shaped the selection.

Think of this mix as an attempt to slow down. To gently bring you into yourself. To listen deeply and extract the bliss that is always there, waiting. I hope it gives you the same grounding and lightness that I felt while playing it. Tune in!

I love to listen. That was always my reason for engaging in music, but somewhere along the way I forgot. Along the way I did a lot of hearing, I did a lot of certain types of listening too, but all too often I forgot to actively listen with my full self. 

Over time I had attached a string of heavy emotional burdens to the place of music in my life. Music became a coping strategy for my insecurities. Music became a vehicle for social connection. Music became a set of functions. Music became a structural pillar to wrap identity around. 

Music is for partying. Music is for reminiscing. Music is for giving atmosphere to your shop, your home, your workplace. Music is for passing the time. Music is for making me feel a certain way. Music is entertainment. 

There’s nothing wrong with any of those things, and much beauty is brought into our lives by such uses of music. But what seems all too rare is music being for listening - really listening. And that is a shame, because really listening is transformative. 

These “Love Letters to Listening” are curated journeys, selected and prepared with care as passionate expressions of a rediscovered romance. They are an invitation to find a quiet space, maybe put on some headphones (that would indeed be my personal recommendation) and go on a journey for no purpose other than the joy of listening.

Future Engineers have been producing drum & bass since 1996, with releases on labels such as LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records, Blame’s 720 Degrees, Renegade, Partisan, and Vibez.

Transference was launched by Lee in 2010, kicking off with the Future Engineers ‘Ellipse’ EP. The label was established for Lee’s solo material as Future Engineers, but evolved to include various other projects with the likes of Electrosoul System, Sunchase, Operon, Cutworks, Radicall, Dauntless and Fuj.
