Continuing a tradition of showcasing the eclectic and soulful sounds of The North Quarter, NQ State of Mind, Vol. 4 is here—curated by long-time collaborators Zero T and Steo. Eighteen years after their first collaboration, “Refusal,” the Dublin-born duo brings their combined artistry and deep-rooted musical synergy to this latest chapter in the influential mix series, set to release on December 13th, 2024.

Zero T and Steo, both celebrated for their long-standing contributions to the scene, bring their unique vision to NQ State of Mind, Vol. 4. The mix features 33 tracks that span the vast emotional and musical landscape of The North Quarter, with 10 exclusive tracks debuting in this collection. Zero T’s impeccable production and mixing, paired with Steo’s unmistakable vocal touch, showcase TNQ’s trademark fusion of deep grooves and soulful beats.

Following in the footsteps of previous volumes, NQ State of Mind, Vol. 4 encapsulates the label’s evolving sound, highlighting its rich eight-year catalogue and the exciting future ahead. The mix will be accompanied by a special release of the 10 exclusive tracks by label regulars as well as some fresh faces.

As we get ready for our return to Sardinia this week, we’re proud to present this month’s SUNANDBASS podcast from Blindside, featuring a special Futures Past mix.

This selection is a nod to the legendary mixes from Fabio for Muzik MasterS, Doc Scott and LTJ Bukem for Mixmag, all of which had a huge influence on Dan’s journey. From starting Breakthru events, to working on Soul:r and now Space Cadet, we’re thrilled to welcome Blindside back to the Podcast.

“This is a mix of some of my favourite tracks from the mid-90s. Its working title was Future’s Past, partly because, even though these tracks are 30 years old, they still sound light years ahead, conveying emotion with an energy that only drum & bass can.”

Future Engineers have been producing drum & bass since 1996, with releases on labels such as LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records, Blame’s 720 Degrees, Renegade, Partisan, and Vibez.

Transference was launched by Lee in 2010, kicking off with the Future Engineers ‘Ellipse’ EP. The label was established for Lee’s solo material as Future Engineers, but evolved to include various other projects with the likes of Electrosoul System, Sunchase, Operon, Cutworks, Radicall, Dauntless and Fuj.
