Alienata

Spanish-born, Berlin-based Alienata is a self-described sound obsessive
whose sets span obscure electro, ACID, dub, IDM, dark disco, hypnotic techno, industrial atmospheres, breakbeats, cosmic jazz , UK electro, Detroit, Chicago influences and crazy sounds in general. A former philosophy student with a particular interest in mysticism, Alienata began DJing in 2004. In conjunction with Valencia's Overflow Collective, she not only served as a resident DJ but also participated in theatre and music technology workshops and oversaw its label operations. Her earliest contact with Germany's music scene came through Leipzig's Homoelektrik collective, and upon moving to Berlin in 2011, she quickly found an adoptive family in the Killekill label and associated Krake Festival. This relationship helped make her a respected mainstay in clubs in Berlin, Germany and Europe, but her international profile has been steadily increasing each year: NYC, Chicago, Sydney, Melbourne, Bogotá, Moscow. In recent times we have been able to experience its genuine style in booths like Fabric, Panorama
Bar or ADE. When behind the decks, Alienata is closely attuned to both internal and external influences and is unconcerned with providing listeners with an outstanding and energetic experience. It is not strange that legends like Dave Clarke (who recently played a B2B in ADE) DJ Stingray, Ben Sims or Ron Morelli have expressed all their support and respect for her.

With all that knowledge behind and a true love for music she decided to start her own imprint “Discos Atónicos” in 2017 where she can materialize all its varied influences, counting on legendary artists like Beta Evers, Dez Williams, Artificiero, BS-1 or Cosmic Force.

While primarily focusing on DJing, Alienata has released a few different records & remixes in recent years with collaborations with Snuffo of the jacking Snuff Crew & Sync24 -CEO of the legendary UK electro imprint Cultivated Electronics- Her most recent contribution has been to the great Ben Sims ‘Tribology’ Compilation, together with artists of the size of Robert Hood, James Ruskin or Mark Broom.
Since 2017 she hosts a monthly show called ‘Nova Express’ on the French LYL radio.

We met Volen through a tip from our friends at Cyclone as a Los Angeles-based DJ who was also a natural with production. In 2021 we released Volen's Distortion mini-album on Rhizome Forms. Those heady productions stuck with us and we knew a vinyl would soon be ready. Four years later, with countless hours spent in his Arizona desert sound lab, we present four acidic dancefloor interventions on wax.

“Validation” is immediately lively with a cascading acid groove. Spinning through inversions, the vocal refrains frame the kaleidoscopic dance floor energy of the title track.

The record's a-side finds completeness with the twisted anthem “I've Got to Shower".
Wobbly chords simmer under that famous sample while a slick breakbeat delivers the rhythm.

Side-b arrives with swagger as "Left & Right” rolls in with a mental acid and breakbeat powerplant of a groove.The track's breakdown billows atmosphere while the lower frequencies growl.

Volen saves the starry ecstasy for the final track. “Pump Their Dump” is an upbeat and dreamy acid house journey evolving into a collage of ear candy samples that'll satisfy dancers looking for that positive vibration release.

@jos-p-saez es uno de los artistas nacionales en la escena del Electro que está expandiendose a nivel internacional debido a su gran calidad técnica y su delicada selección musical, lo que le ha llevado a ser invitado por algunas plataformas tales como Cyber Domain, Sesiones:Electrónica, Tracklistings o la más reciente Nawal.

José es uno de los miembros del "equipo humano" que hay detrás del Colectivo UEMA, equipo encargado de promover la música electrónica en todo el país, y también forma parte de la crew Electronic Wave, los promotores de eventos en la ciudad de Sevilla con artistas nacionales e internacionales.

Para esta ocasión José Sáez nos trae un mix cargado de Electro en sus diferentes formas, donde da cabida a varias generaciones de este estilo musical, y además, con mucha clase a los platos que te atrapa de principio a fin.

For us is a pure pleasure to introduce our next guest from our mixes series. He comes from Albacete (Spain) and his name: José Sáez.

José Sáez is rapidly expanding internationally in the Electro scene due his great technique and his delicate selection. As a consequence, he was already invited to play for different platforms, such Cyber Domain, Sesiones Electronica, Tracklisting or the most recent, Nawal.

José is one of the “humans” behind UEMA Collective, in charge of promoting electronic music all across Spain, and also is part of the Electronic Wave crew, promoting events with national and International artists in Seville.

For this episode, José Sáez is bringing us a mix fully loaded with Electro in different styles, giving us a full perspective of all of this genre, with a delicate technique that will make you listen from beginning til the end.
