In der aktuellen Folge des Telekom Electronic Beats Podcast spricht Gesine Kühne mit dem deutschen DJ und Produzent Roman Flügel, der bereits auf eine 30-jährige Karriere zurückblickt. Bekannt ist der Techno Artist unter Pseudonymen wie Eight Miles High, Alter Ego, Soylent Green oder Acid Jesus und mittlerweile veröffentlicht er auch Platten unter seinem eigenen Namen Roman Flügel. Im Interview erzählt er, wie die verschiedenen Identitäten ihm den Freiraum gaben, sich musikalisch ganz divers auszuleben und immer wieder neue Dinge zu probieren. Anfänglich inspiriert von Chicago House, schaffte es der Musiker seinen Kindheitstraum zu verwirklichen und die Musik letztendlich zu seinem Hauptberuf zu machen. Flügel spricht über sein abgebrochenes Studium der Musikwissenschaften, seinen persönlichen Bezug zu Sven Väth, den zeitweiligen Unmut seiner Eltern, aber auch über Vertrauen, Eskalation und die Panorama Bar – heute ist er aus der Clubszene nicht mehr wegzudenken. Prägend war vor allem seine Zeit in Frankfurt mit seinen Partnern Heiko M/S/O, Ata Macias und Jörn Elling Wuttke, mit denen er verschiedene Labels wie Ongaku, Klang Elektronik und Playhouse betrieb, bevor er vor knapp zwei Jahren nach Berlin zog um ein neues Kapitel zu beginnen.
