Daniel Nieto et sa bande sont à la recherche d’une nouvelle victime. Ils arrêtent leur choix sur Giovanna Amati, la fille du « roi du cinéma » local. Après quelques hésitations et plusieurs semaines de filature, elle est enlevée avec brutalité sur le pas de sa porte en février 1978. Mais le rapt-éclair de la riche héritière s’éternise.

Rome. Fin des années 1970. Daniel Nieto, un braqueur marseillais, est en cavale dans l’Italie des années de plomb où le rapt est une véritable industrie. Il devient kidnappeur et enlève la fille d’un riche industriel du cinéma. Une relation contre-nature se noue entre l’otage et son geôlier. Elle sera fatale à ce dernier.

Après avoir découvert que son petit frère Antoine, âgé de 32 ans, fumait de l’héroïne depuis plusieurs années, Étienne décide de l’accueillir chez lui à Paris pour l’aider à vaincre son addiction. Durant près de 3 ans de vie commune, Étienne enregistre leurs discussions et raconte leur combat quotidien pour la réinsertion. Entre espoir et désillusion, moments de complicité, de fête et de disputes, les deux frères se rapprochent jusqu'à s’interroger sur leur relation. Que peut faire Étienne pour accompagner son frère ? Quelles sont les limites de l'aide que l'on peut apporter aux autres ? Confronté aux difficultés de la réinsertion dans un monde en déclin, ainsi qu’aux nombreuses tentations du nord-est parisien, Antoine va pourtant peu à peu sortir la tête de l’eau avant de connaître une fin tragique.

Etienne Karlen est coordinateur de parcours pédagogique à Paris. Il travaille sur un programme de recherche destiné aux personnes éloignées de l’emploi. C’est son premier podcast.

Explorer George Kourounis finds himself growing increasingly anxious as he prepares to enter a fiery sinkhole known as the “Doorway to Hell.”

George Kourounis is a renowned global explorer and storm chaser who specializes in documenting extreme forces of nature including: tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanoes, deserts, caves, avalanches and more. He is an Explorer In Residence for The Royal Canadian Geographical Society, the Chairman of the Explorers Club Canadian Chapter, and has received several awards and medals for his efforts. He frequently finds himself driving into the eye of fierce storms, or descending ropes into actively erupting volcanic craters, often while hosting television programs including “Angry Planet” and others.  He has given four TEDx talks, and has addressed the United Nations Environmental Emergencies Forum. George’s expeditions have taken him to 65 countries on all seven continents to such far-flung places as: Madagascar, Turkmenistan, Vanuatu, Greenland, North Korea, Myanmar, and Antarctica.
