Long-time friend of Meanwhile and regular contributor to GMJ and Matter's label, Simos Tagias returns once more with the twin-track "Archaios / Geometric".

With over 400 production credits to his name for some of the finest modern imprints, Simos Tagias has regularly found an outlet for his distinctive brand of progressive house through the likes of Sudbeat Music, Mango Alley and Proton Music. Making a sizeable impression with his debut outing on Meanwhile, the sonic diptych that constituted "Euphoria / Emotion" in March 2021 showcased an immaculate sonic collage that shimmered and glistened with melodic beauty. Remixes from Paul Deep and GMJ and Matter followed in April 2022, while Simos also found himself back on the Meanwhile catalogue with remixes of Imran Khan and Alex O'Rion in late 2021 and early 2022.

Opening his latest original EP, "Archaios" is driven by a powerful rhythmic bedrock that generates club-friendly groove and bassline prowess before shape-shifting pads drift across the mid-range. Subtle motifs gradually enter the fray, exposed fully in the intoxicating breakdown where white-noise risers and open filters provide an epic crescendo. Hitting its straps in the second half, fully evolved melodic sequences jockey for prominence alongside textured chord sequences and driving percussive force. The result is the perfect illustration of modern and emotive progressive house.

A whip-cracking kick and chunky top-line groove anchor "Geometric", while a pitched synth effect immediately piques interest. Dropping easily into its second movement, bassline and rhythm supply the perfect backdrop for a plucked motif to hypnotise with its delicately evolving character, while a heavily side-chained pad pulsates in cadenced waves and adding to expansive sonic landscape. Pausing for breath at a beatless breakdown, the track effortlessly drops back into its mesmerising combination of revolving motif and heavy rhythm as effects and pads generate an almost transcendental state of bliss as "Geometric" plays out.

With consummate ease, Simos Tagias sculpts a new sonic masterpiece in "Archaios / Geometric".

D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music opens the spring season by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for his debut single. Following a ten-year hiatus, the Armenian-born, USA-based artist made a triumphant return to electronic music in 2020 with a series of the releases via Mango Alley, Movement Recordings and Univak. On the strength of his fresh, progressive sound Ruben quickly earned praise from the genre's trendsetters Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also becoming a regular in Beatport's competitive sales charts. Having made his first appearance on SLC-6 Music last year with a remix of K Loveski's 'Renzzo', the Los Angeles resident now returns to the label for his first single entitled 'Meteorite', alongside a remix from Jerome Isma-Ae. The Original Mix finds Ruben operating at the peak of his creative powers and aiming squarely for the dance floor. Elasticated synths, delicate chord stabs, percolating effects layers, charged beats and mountainous basslines form the solid structure of the track. An emotive break, complete with thought-provoking vocal samples, puts your senses on high for an exhilarating finale.

Making his label debut, and providing the lone interpretation, is progressive music icon Jerome Isma-Ae. Having remixed the likes of Faithless, Hybrid, Paul Van Dyk and Way Out West, the German artist now overhauls Ruben's 'Meteorite' in fine fashion. Beginning with a subdued pulse, Jerome masterfully builds the energy into an epic main-room stormer. Multi-dimensional stabs, flickering percussive arrangements and deconstructed vocals steal the air, while thunderous grooves and misty tension-filled atmospheres keep attention firmly locked on the dance floor.
