Tek's been a homie since I was about 12 years old and his creativity in the lab inspired a lot of my writing and melodies on my last album Valley of the Dolls. I wanted Can't Keep Up to reflect a sweet date night kickin' it.  I wanted it to feel like the era of my teen years going to the State Fair on the bus with all your friends, and that one guy you have a crush on winning you giant stuffed animals, buying you flowers after the fireworks and letting you rock his fitted; In the Sota, those nights after the fair turned into a mixed dance party in someone's garage or basement. Can't Keep Up is strait rollerskating to the r&b lounge music."
