Future Magic Collection

This song went through so many different versions before I finally was able to come up with something that adequately matched Rob’s vocals.  I really wanted to channel some big 80s stadium rock vibes on this while still keeping it in line with the overall sonic vibe of the EP.  Really happy with how it turned out. One of my favorite songs on the EP.

Future Magic & Robert Voxx - Typhoon

This was the first track Rob and I made together back when started this whole “Collisions” EP project.  I had this instrumental I’d been sitting on for a bit and Rob was more or less ready to quit making music (or at least that’s how he felt sometimes; I doubt he’d ever really have quit lol), so after tricking him into getting back in the studio by asking him to sing some covers for me, I eventually helped him get his groove back (wasn’t exactly hard, dude just needed the tiniest of pushes).  Next thing I knew he was asking me for instrumentals, and the rest is history. 

We didn’t know then we’d end up making 6 songs together when we started out of course, but once we got going it became pretty obvious we’d at least be doing an EP of some kind.  

You never know where things will take you.

Future Magic & Robert Voxx - Remedy

It's not very often in life—or specifically in this industry—that one has the honour to not only discover an artist one admires immensely, but is also given the opportunity to remix one of said artist's best songs. Sara is an absolute wonder of a vocalist/songwriter/ musician, and the fact I got to remix my favourite song of hers…well, to all my fellow producers, all I can say is: don't give up.

Sara Phillips - Angel City (Future Magic Remix)

Definitely one of my favourite remixes to date.  Ghastly always has a ton of energy in his productions, and I did my best to make sure that I maintained a similar same vibe in my remix, but with my own spin on things (in this case a bit of 80s stadium rock meets future bass and drumstep). Matt's vocals - as always - are just fantastic, so crafting a new progression etc. around them was a ton of fun, as well as a great lesson in solid pop song-writing.

Live Forever

It's been a minute since I entered a remix contest, so when I heard that @wavome was having one for @olivernelson & @tobtok's "Yellow", featuring some truly incredible vocals from @livdawsonofficial, I put everything else on the back-burner and jumped in headfirst.  

The original is such a great future-pop track - subtle, clean, concise; every sound in it has a reason for being there; tight as hell - so I wanted to channel that in my remix and keep things a bit more held-back than my usual tendencies.  

I hope you like the results. :)
