contacted me about 2 years ago and offered me a baseline stem from an Alpha Roots collaboration he was working on with Joerxworx. About 2 years ago, that is crazy! I, of course, said I would take the stem. I needed to finish some other songs that were in the works before getting to play with Alpha Roots’s baseline. By the time I was ready to connect with the vibe, Russia had invaded Ukraine, unfathomable tragedy had begun, and the world was changing again. My song writing reflected the horror of what was going on. By the time all the stems were gathered, vocals were recorded, and the song was mixed and mastered, another war had broken out and the horror continued. 

Massive thanks to Mountain Songs for  trusting me with these blessed Alpha Roots stems. So glad Jamie, Jonathan, Joerxworx, and Russ got a chance to work with Alpha Roots again. Alpha Roots lives on. 

And the song is ready just in time for Halloween!

In the heart-wrenching aftermath of losing his partner to a relentless battle with cancer, a man found himself adrift in the vast emptiness of grief. The once vibrant colors of their shared life turned to muted shades, and the echoes of his partner's laughter haunted every corner of their home. The man, once grounded by love, became a nowhere-man, wandering through the days with a heavy heart and a sense of purpose lost. The weight of loss hung heavily upon him, casting a shadow over his every step. Friends reached out, but the fortress of grief he built around himself seemed impenetrable. I wrote this song about a year ago and was inspired to write the music after my uncle passed away who was a big part of the 1960s underground and psychedelic music scene in london ,the hippies of that time would frequent a place called the ufo club where they would drop acid and watch such acts as the early syd barrett era pink floyd and many other upcoming music stars of that time.
This song is a bit introspective as well as all things must pass like the music it was an end of an era [jim 2023]

There's a fantastic 70s leaning pop-rock album  Ticket to Shangri-La  released in 2023 (Young Gun Silver Fox) with a song called Starting Wars. I miss heard and mis-read the title as Starling Wars which seemed a great metaphor for something. It could have applied to a relationship - but the 2 wars going on became the theme
