On July 26, 2023, under the Portuguese night sky, Christian Samsara performed a spellbinding three-hour set at The Gardens stage of the Boom Festival. Crafting a sonic journey that seamlessly blended Ambient, Downtempo, and Deep Techno genres, his set was characterized by its atmospheric textures, intricate rhythms, and carefully curated track selection.

It was recorded, mastered at the Ultimae studios and can now be played on Soundcloud. Enjoy !

When swedish artist Solar Fields (Magnus Birgersson) meets french artist AES Dana (Vincent Villuis)...the outcome is H.U.V.A. Network, a downtempo project where North and South regions mix and jumble together in a fluid manner. 

The pair of sound architects explore ambient-electronica landscapesand their multiple layouts.The album was thought out and composed in two studios : 
- Studio Jupiter (Göteborg - Sweden) 
- Ultimae Studio (Lyon - France) 
Musical works and ideas were conceived in this two creation poles via a few travels and a high speed internet network connection, thus breaking [ Distances ] which separate the two composers. 

6 months of composition, 2 weeks of mixing and a week of mastering with Huby Sea, were necessary to give form to this outstanding encounter album.

This track came from a big AV project I was working on for the last few years. I worked with many different visual artists and some scientists and mathematicians to tell the story of emergence. For each chapter of the story I created a different piece of music to accompany the visual. This chapter was about the idea of Symmetry, and how it is so important as a basic building block of nature.

Symmetry is one of the most fundamental principles of nature, and forms the basis of music. So this music video is an early chapter in the Emergence audio-visual project, where the basic principles of nature are visualised, setting the stage for the physical universe to come into being.

Symmetry is the idea that one aspect of a system can change while another remains constant. The idea of natural laws themselves, rely on the forms of symmetry that mean the same forces will apply to you as they do to me, independently of our position in space or time. And scientists searches for nature’s symmetries lie at the heart of much of our best models of reality.

The principle is also responsible for music, in that our enjoyment of tonality, melody, harmony and rhythm comes from our subconscious appreciation of different types of patterns (i.e. symmetries) in sound waves.

I wanted to visualise the idea that some properties of a system can be changed, while others remain constant.

This gives rise to predictability and patterns in the world around us; things follow the same rules today as they did yesterday, and we stay the same person irrespective of what direction we face or where we are. Symmetries in nature cause what we call natural laws, to exist.
Kevin McGloughlin explored this idea in the video by using simple symmetrical forms (primarily the circle), and symmetrical operations applied to them - rotations, translations and reflections. 

The animation demonstrates the beauty of this simple concept when applied in an iterative journey towards ever increasing complexity, both visually and musically.

Tomas Dvorak (aka Floex) is an intensely talented producer and DJ. The depth, melodic composition and colorful integrity of his work far outstrips the vast majority of his contemporaries. He's crafted award winning game soundtracks and created albums and music that sit arguably in the realm of masterpieces. No one is quite sure how he got this talented or what he's going to do next (aside from collaborations with the likes of Tom Hodge) but it's a privilege to have him contribute an exclusive mix of tasteful and intense cuts to FWD.DJ.

A cover/homage to one of our favorite songs by the late Mark Hollis.

There are so many great things about this song. It evokes so many emotions throughout the duration of the song and communicates them so effectively, yet in a pop music context that is pretty universally appealing. When you look under the hood of the song it's entirely genius how all of these elements work together to create something so unique. The arrangement, the constant dramatic key shifts, the "whale" and "bird" sounds, the very busy prominently mixed bass line, the choppy acoustic guitar accompaniment...it's a clever song that's crafted with thought, care, and intention performed well and mixed well. The timbre of the synths chosen alone is a feat worthy of note as each part represents an integral sonic character to the song that when taken away or replaced can completely change the intention of the song. Mark's lyrics are thoughtfully crafted. The melody is dynamic and varied with a significant vocal range which he handles with absolute ease.

Hollie and I chose to keep the tempo the same (it's 126...and a HALF, genius.) but to attack this song in half-time as a way to accentuate what we felt were the more languid nature of some parts of the original. We wanted this to be an interpretation rather than a re-creation of what Mark did. We kept the structure pretty close to the original as I think that's part of what makes the song really successful. In regard to timbre, I wanted to keep this very synth-based and try to achieve what he did with having different synth sections define the characteristic of the song, but put some different melodies and textures in there. As it turns out Mark's range and Hollie's are remarkably similar, so we kept in the same key.

I’ve made a little ambient mix of some of my all time favourite peaceful music.

The mix was originally made for a clinical trial for people undergoing something of a reconstructive therapy. It was designed to repeatedly and slowly transition between relaxed reflection, and stimulation of new thoughts, running for a 2 hrs 30 mins session. You’ll probably hear what I mean in the structure.

It also includes some unreleased music of mine which hasn’t been heard before, alongside many of the most beautiful pieces I could find. I hope you enjoy it.
