"Hypnotic and psychedelic, downtempo-tribal dance of the future. Surround and opaque. Current realities that seem to be dystopian variations, of cloudy days, of acid rain. Glass of water and healing pill: transformation from dystopia to utopia, an abstraction if only for these almost two hours."

Author's note:

This mix has no big concept or plan. Just a bunch of tracks I liked from (mostly) the last couple of years brought together by mixing genres and tempos while trying to keep a certain spaced-out, dubby and somehow dystopic mood.  

Walden is a DJ and producer based in Barcelona. He's been a member of the Hivern Discs (@hivern_disc) team since the label's fundation. There, he has released two albums under the Mistakes Are Ok.

Sintesi session 03 invited Velours Collective to Arkaoda Berlin to curate and create a sonic narrative on Sunday, December 5th 2021.

This is the first published session from that night, with JAJA. 

@jajaamusic , member of the High Ends label (Berlin, Paris), Matthieu Jeannel alias JAJA has acquired a lot of experience behind the turntables for more than 10 years. He had the opportunity during his residencies to play with Tobias, Andrew James Gustav, The Ghost or even at Zendid parties at the Club der visionaere. Now based in Berlin, he also devotes himself to his other passion, music production.

Sintesi
is a new series of sound and food listening sessions where carefully crafted recipes are served by ( parentesi ) to later on move downstairs where selected musicians and sound artists are invited to create an atmosphere of delicate and tactile nature.

Circle Of Live is a brand new, live act only event series concept and record label curated by Sebastian Mullaert to honour the values of spontaneity and improvisation. 

For the inaugural release on the new Circle Of Live imprint, Sebastian Mullaert presents a joint EP with long time collaborator Eitan Reiter. The duo previously met on the 2014 album ‘Reflections of Nothingness’, (Mule Musiq) borne out of a week long jam spent together at Sebastian’s tranquil Röstånga studio. Following the album’s release, they arranged two live shows at Ozora festival in Hungary. 

For the first year the collaboration was mostly based on Sebastian's music with Eitan adding jams on top. For the second year, Eitan felt inspired to set up a more improvised live set, enabling a more spontaneous performance. Then, unexpectedly, Sebastian lost all his gear on the flight and the live show took a completely different turn. This time, the show relied more on Eitan’s music, with Sebastian jamming on top. Eitan had prepared simple sketches to jam around, similar to the way in which Sebastian plays. One of the sketches, "Loop for Today", later became one song on Eitan’s album called ”Give it Life”. Eitan asked Sebastian to remix this song. 

Sebastian accepted the remix invitation with the request to continue honoring improvisation and creativity, but instead of a normal remix it became an adventure out to the Dead Sea after Sebastian's gig at the Block Festival 2017. Eitan invited Ben Kirschenbaum to take care of the cameras and two more friends to carry gear and PA. As a result, the remix is an on the spot jam out in the desert … one take while the sun is going down. No time to think or plan, only the option to surrender to the situation and let creativity run its course. This is the ethos of Circle of Live in general, regardless of whether the expression is happening on stage or in the studio. Let it happen! Let it Be! Feel it. 

Back in the dense Swedish woodland, Sebastian made two more remixes under his Wa Wu We moniker. For the ‘Live In The Woods’ remix he restructures the expansive synthwork of the original in enclosed surroundings, whilst the ’Live By The Clouds’ interpretation looks upwards for a disorienting, dubbed out trip. 

” The main intention with Circle of Live is to inspire people to improvise; let their life be an improvisation; a spontaneous expression of life. In one perspective this is a concept with clear visions and definitions but at the same time the core aim of the project is to allow both us, the artists, and the audience to drop concepts and habitual patterns in the creative process of dance and music." 

Artists confirmed to take part in this inspiring new adventure are Ame (Live), Aurora Halal, Dorisburg, Eitan Reiter, Johanna Knutsson, Leafar Legov, Ljudbilden & Piloten, Mathew Jonson, Neel, Steevio & SuzyBee, Tobias. and The Mole. The Circle Of Live imprint will release spontaneous live jams from those participating.

Berlin based Darkjazz band Dictaphone have been making sublime music for a decade now. Over the years this band has achieved cult status with such luminary fans as Nils Frahm who recently included the song peaks from their Nacht Ep in his late night tales compilation. Using deep cuts from their vinyl collection they have put together a journey of 80’s experimental ambient and electronics from their original home of Brussels. This year saw their entire back catalogue (long out of print) re-issued by Denovali and this month will see a momentous ‘10 years of Dictaphone’ showcase performance at the legendary Saal 1 in the Funkhouse, Berlin. We are excited to kick off our second colab with Quite Calm Records and Denovali with this intriguing exclusive mix for FWD.DJ.

Celebrating the 27th Birthday of our Founder and slightly overdue 2nd Year anniversary for Nature Tales - Ishtadi dived to the depths of his files, to find this Live Set. 

Recorded at the first Nature Tales Party, held at the Saltrup Artist Collective country house north of Copenhagen. 
Reminiscing of the inspired sprouting moments, this Live Set burst with the same blooming intensity, fertility and depth that directed our course to begin with.

Now 2 years had passed, seeds have become trees, yet they are the echoes of the seeds.
