Relationships are hard. These 2 high school sweethearts from Indiana have sonically plotted out a melody drenched tune for how to survive turmoil and uncertainty. "P.D.R" reflects on the duo's journey through the music industry, recent public snub by Hollywood, and overall rocky patch in a weathered relationship.

The song also marks a major milestone for The Bergamot working with world-renowned mixer and producer Matt Wiggins to mix the track (Glass Animals, London Grammar, The Horrors).

"P.D.R." is a forward-looking contemporary interpretation of The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" stacked harmonies, strung out verb drenched Strats, and thick textured harpsichord and strings to round out this lush production. The hook is emphatic and grabbing with a distant synth hooking your ear at first listen.

The song is based on Playa del Rey, a romantic beach town nestled on the south-western tip of Los Angeles where the couple found themselves in their 312,000 mile old "Unity Car" with the window down and the rain falling on both of them. 

"Life just seemed so confusing at that particular point in time - it was all just hitting us as we sat in silence taking in the swells of the Pacific Ocean on our left and the arriving international flights at LGA over our heads." reflects Hoff. "Those planes lit up like fireballs falling from the sky."

"What were we doing there? Why had we come to L.A.? Our car was on the brink - WE were on the brink" relays Speece. "We put everything we had into that track... and everything WE DIDN'T!"

The song weaves the listener through the idea of "Holding on" in the beginning as being held back, yet reprieves with a optimistic turn by the bridge "With everything uncertain, I think we will be O.K." to bring the track back to a positive light and somehow reign in the dream track to inspire and strike an optimistic tone. 

The guitar swells, the dreamy vocals and harmonies - this piece would be a visual accompaniment to Claude Monet's "Rough Sea". The song attempts to create a sonic seascape of lyrical imagery and instrumental precision.
