Trevor Morris - Hvitserk’s Choice (Fyoomz Remix)

Wave music producer Fyoomz delivers a collection of four unforgettable masterpieces in this self-titled EP.

His cover of deadmau5's Faxing Berlin is a fresh take on the classic tune. "His music was immensely inspirational to me," admits Fyoomz. Created shortly after the loss of a loved one, the artist sought catharsis in the production of the track. "How I felt the first time I heard the original - hypnotized in a state of melancholic euphoria - is actually a place I wanted to spend significant time in."

While classified as future bass by your music provider, these works rightfully belong in the melting pot genre of wave music - a fusion of dubstep, trap, jungle, house, techno, and hip-hop. "Wave is an endlessly mouldable genre," Fyoomz explains, "that is bound more by feeling than it is by BPM."

Among the US producer's influences on this release are Plastician, Djemba Djemba, Breakage, Youngsta, Distance, J:Kenzo, and Icicle. "Plastician was the longest running DJ on Rinse.fm and is one of the pioneers behind both the grime sound and wave," he says. "When I created the distorted bass sound in Splinter In Your Mind, I thought of him."

Closing out the EP is Guiding Light, the first collaborative recording with one of his vibe.digital partners Djedi. "What we ended up with was a wholeness far greater than the sum of its parts."

An apt description for this release: far greater than the sum of its parts.

I wrote this one while my mom was sick. It was the last song of mine she ever heard, so it’s an emotional one for me. A track about loss and what happens after. 

I'm now in the process of letting go, so I'm going to let this one go too. She always loved when I played piano, so I put that part in there for her.

Love to you all. Hug your mothers close. They won’t always be there. Happy 2018.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the original tune, even if I consider Flowdan to be one of the more underrated MCs ever, but it was his vocal, along with a little inspiration from @jmingo, that brought this track to life. Cheers to you all for asking me about this one in the last year.

A self-taught musician and one of the early pioneers of the Wave genre, "Papa" Fyoomz has established his own darker style within Wave, influenced by Deep Dubstep, DnB, and other fellow Wave artists.

In 2017, Fyoomz founded vibe.digital as a radio show on KRUI, 100.1 FM in Iowa City, Iowa, focusing on the Wave scene and its related artists. The support for the show was enormous, both in social media shares and in artists from around the world submitting music to get plays. After careful deliberation, Fyoomz turned vibe.digital into a record label in conjunction with Djedi and M!NGO. Now he is A&R and co-founder of "vibe.digital Recordings," a forward thinking platform created around forming global interpersonal connections through music and art.

In 2020, his remake/cover of 'Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin' was signed by Play Records, the label that released the original song. It is one of 4 tracks that round out his debut "Fyoomz EP," an optimistic take on Wave during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the Wave sound to one of Canada’s leading electronic music labels.

In 2024 he co-founded Symmetry Festival based in Libertyville, Iowa. A forward thinking music festival with an emphasis on the cutting edge of electronic bass music, including Wave.
