Lafayette, Louisiana-based rapper G Donta, currently signed to Sounds of Louisiana Entertainment, learned the inner workings of the entertainment industry at an early age. He travelled throughout the United States with his mother, Brenda Jackson, a popular country-western singer signed to an independent label (1992-1995).
“I thought it was cool when I saw my mom signing autographs and getting a lot of attention,” G Donta recalled. “Barry Gordy wanted to sign my mom but she was under contract. Her label was ok with releasing her from her contract as long as Gordy signed their other label acts too, but he didn‟t want to; the label folded afterwards.”

G Donta became highly motivated when he met Seattle, Washington rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot as a kid and found out that they were cousins. “I used to see him on TV and hear him on the radio all of the time. I met him around the time when his platinum single „Baby Got Back‟ came out,” he said. “I always felt that if he did it, so could I.” G Donta, 25, says now the musical torch has been relayed to him and he‟s been going full force to make it burn brighter than ever. 
He was born in Hammond, Louisiana and moved to Seattle, Washington at age eight. It was during that transition period G Donta began writing raps and singing tenor at school and in the community. At 13, his ability to drive an 18-wheeler earned him the moniker „Little Seattle.‟ “I also know how to drive forklifts and backhoes, you name it, I‟ve done it,” he says.

As a young teen he established relationships with mom and pop record shops, collecting the CDs they didn‟t want and selling them on the street. He later travelled the U.S., handling promotions for Lil‟ Troy, Slim Thug, Hurricane Chris, Lil‟ Flip and at events like the Bayou Classic.

He has also acquired in-depth knowledge of the music business from artists he‟s either opened up for or performed with, including Roi Anthony, T.I., Lil Boosie, Lil‟ Wayne, Yung Joc, Ruff Ryders, DJ Unk, Lil Wayne, Foxx, Webbie, Lejit and many others.
In late 2009, G Donta parted ways with the record label, with whom his first album Walk Like You was released and distributed through EMI Digital Publishing and iTunes. His career is now under the direction of his uncle Robert Martin (CEO of Sounds of Louisiana Entertainment).

In February 2010, G Donta took a trip to All-Star Weekend in Dallas, Texas, where G Donta performed his new single “White T” from his forthcoming album Under Construction. Dinero‟s on stage delivery resonated very well with the audience of tastemakers and notables in attendance.
G Donta is currently working on the production along with the spring/summer marketing campaign for Under Construction.
“My grind is non-stop,” G Donta offers. “I‟m very happy with the direction my career is going. I‟m confident that my determination and perseverance, along with my thorough team, will lead to G Donta soon becoming a global brand.”
