At some point, Sophie just bought two broken record players and repaired them DYI style herself. Spending a lot of time at punk and hardcore concerts in her youth she’s always preferred to simply make things herself instead of just consuming. In her long-time adopted home of Leipzig, 50PHIE has also played a key role in shaping the local scene. Be it as an organizer, employee, DJ or, above all, as a raver.

She is part of G-Edit and DRIVE and has also been involved in booking the Nachtiville Festival since the last editions. 50PHIE is musically versatile and always manages to pack her bag with the right selection from her digital and analog collection. 

Since moving to Hamburg, 50PHIE has been active in the record store remoto rec extending her rather timeless than zeitgeisty collections we’re excited to listen to at THF Radio.

For our 27th episode we invited Hamburg based DJ 50PHIE (@50phie50phie), who recorded an eclectic and versatile mix, in which she’s serving the whole musical bandwrith of our project by skillfully blending various subgenres and spanning a bow between deep, dub and Detroit leaning sounds. Chapeau!

One of Leipzig’s most versatile DJs, Neele was booker and resident of the Leipzig INSTITUT FUER ZUKUNFT. She remains a political activist and a key figure in Leipzig’s feminist scene, particularly as a founding member of the G-EDIT & DRIVE crew.

Behind the decks she fears no genre limitations, never losing control nor falling into triviality. Her trademarked sound is energetic, bass-driven and UK inspired, taking in all manners of House, Techno, Acid and Dub(techno). The type of DJ that can fire up a dancefloor at any given moment of the night. It’s all about the vibe!
