Ahead of his debut EP on @Soma, we invite Magna Pia on the latest Slam Radio episode. Hüseyin Evirgen is a composer, producer and DJ. He is one half of Cassegrain as well as works on his own solo material as Magna Pia since 2016. He studied composition, piano and electronic music at the University of Istanbul and Mozarteum Salzburg. He has composed music for theatre, dance performances and mixed media for almost two decades. After meeting Alex Tsiridis at the Red Bull Music Academy in 2008, they formed the techno duo
“Cassegrain”. Since their first release on Mikrowave in 2010, they have worked with a variety of labels such as infrastructure NY, Prologue, Killekill, Ostgut Ton, Counterchange and Semantica. In 2016 they formed their own imprint called “Arcing Seas”, which is now home to both collaborative work as Cassegrain, solo projects as well as guest artists.  As Magna Pia, Hüseyin Evirgen focuses on providing combative dance floor trips and unorthodox sonic moods with subtle 90s techno references while he keeps his interest in combining contemporary techno music with archaic symbolism.

Self-reflective, critical, edgy, highly motivated and passionate about music - artist duo, live-act, DJs or simply spoken Kollektiv Turmstrasse reveal their story of success, which has not always been going into one direction only. Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann have been a scene’s mainstay for a good 20 years; two decades of intensively working, living, traveling, laughing and arguing with each other or, as the both say, ‘having a marriage-like relationship’. But aside from the all too human sides, Nico and Christian provided the community, the scene with several formidable releases like ‘Abenteuer Alltag’, the duo’s first EP on Diynamic, ‘Blutsbrüder’ on their very own label Musik Gewinnt Freunde, ’Rebellion der Träumer’, their album on Connaisseur Recordings, ‘Sry I’m Late’ or their upcoming ‘RibbonReef EP’, just to name a few. But their discography contains more than catchy chord-influenced potential hits, it reveals what’s most important to them, their relationship, what they enjoy in their time off, the everyday life and situations they experience and also unveil certain gaps in-between some of their music. ‘In-between’ seems to be the word that best describes the chat with Christian and Nico as Torture the Artist catches up with Kollektiv Turmstrasse in-between the release of their ‘Noisy Nights’ remixes for Holtoug on Connaisseur Recordings and their first EP, ‘RibbonReef’ on Musik Gewinnt Freunde, after three years. The music collective gives reasons for temporal gaps ‘in-between’ their releases and if you read ‘in-between’ Nico and Christian’s lines you’ll discover what, aside from the obvious and mentioned reasons, is significant to the both at a human and musical level and why they are still as motivated and passionate about what they do as back then when they started - just a little bit more mature, maybe professional but definitely honest and (self)-critical.

Breaking My Concentration :

The original mix by G-Ron and Demus Whisper is a power driving techno blazer with an attitude meant for the big room enthusiast. Equipped with an unstoppable bass line, an arsenal of torrential sonic essences, and captivating rhythm sections intended not to leave the listener disappointed.

George Ron (aka G-Ron and Parallel Preservation)is a New York DJ / Producer along with being the founder, manager and owner of ElectronicRhythm.com.
Since he can remember, G-Ron has been traveling abroad from his hometown of NYC. Throughout the states and South American cities like Rio, Asuncion, Quayaquil, and Buenos Aires, he always absorbed the sonic culture each location offered while djing at local clubs and parties.
After high school, his love for music made him venture oversees and experience the different dance cultures in cities such as Barcelona, Naples, Lisbon, Toulon, Crete, Istanbul, Haifa and more, where he began forming the eclectic diversity style he performs to date.  

Graduating a recording and sound engineering school lead to him to being employed at one of the top New York City's studios, Soundtrack.  In sessions with Linkin Park, Run-DMC, Missy Elliot, Junior Vasquez, Busta Rhymes, Slipknot, Wyclef Jean and many other established artists, G-Ron furthered his production and mixing skills.  

George Ron has shared stages with Doc Martin, Dinky, DJ Three, Adam X, John Tejada, Richard Hinge, Scotty Mau, Steve Loria, Silver, Cosmic Metal Mother, Plexus, ESP, Woody McBride, Natural Nate, A Touch of Class and more.  Either performing in front of 5000 plus dancers or at a cozy underground setting, G-Ron brings over 2 decades of deep and varied sounds in the electronic genre to the table.
