West Coast mainstays @dannygoliger and @justin-jay bring a slamming, club-ready collaborative release to Scuffed Recordings on the ‘Sticky Rice’ EP.

Danny and Justin have been releasing music together since 2020, when the two teamed up for a track on their own Fantastic Voyage imprint. Since then, the Los Angeles based artists have collaborated on tracks on Dirtybird and Childsplay, marking them out as a team to be reckoned with.

Alongside their collabs, Danny has appeared as a solo artist on labels like clip.art, art|werk and Moving Castle, while Justin has had a storied career appearing on labels as varied as Time Is Now, Suara, and Pets Recordings along with being a longtime member of the Dirtybird camp.

Now the two join forces on Scuffed Recordings, with a release including two collabs and a solo track from each artist.

From the outset, the duo wears their UK influences on their sleeves, taking in breakbeat grooves, rolling bass, and upfront percussion. Over the course of the two collabs and two solo tracks, Danny and Justin gleefully tear through an array of genres and influences – whether that’s electro, techno, UK garage, breaks, or IDM, they bounce off each other effortlessly to form a concise and impactful club EP.

Tunlaw Rd in DC was named after Tunlaw Farm which was located in what is now Glover Park. According to local legend during the Civil War many walnut trees were cut in that area to make gunstocks. To make the name more exotic Walnut was reversed into Tunlaw.

After a visit to us in Newcastle early in his career under his former alias, and a recent visit to our friends at Music Sphere - we're chuffed to be welcoming Frazer Ray to the Apecast this week.

A dive into the depths of bass music, kicking off with some atmospheric sounds, progressing into loopy goodness, rave stabs galore, classic garage sounds and more.

The Rinse FM resident had a break out year in 2022 - regularly appearing on line ups with the new class of bass music including Interplanetary Criminal, Bakey, Denham Audio and more. He capped off the year with a collaborative album made with O'Flynn that is essential electronic music listening.

Brooklyn newcomer No Sir (@no_sir) joins the Faux Poly family with their new EP ‘Voyeur’, a release full of rich syncopated percussion and expressive soundscapes that document the artists’ evolving perspective on club spaces and home listening.

The record leans towards sub heavy broken beats, resulting in a confident contribution to the flourishing NYC Bass scene. Despite being based in Brooklyn, No Sir has already broken ground in Europe with singles on 3024 & W133.

“I started producing this EP at a really challenging moment last summer after I got a concussion that left me pretty much bed bound for a month. During this time I also quit drinking, so my relationship to music and going to clubs saw a complete overhaul. This EP is my attempt to find a space in between the hours spent at my quiet apartment and my return to these loud, dark spaces I see as another kind of home. The title track, Voyeur, was the first piece of music I made after the injury” - No Sir
