Conclave is by definition a gathering, a coming together.

Conclave, linguistically, is an amalgamation: con (with) + clave (a unifying rhythm that holds the key to unlock dances both ancestral and contemporary).

Conclave is a live musical gathering of rotating musicians headed by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Cesar Toribio, in which alchemy is evident in the ebb and flow of its compositions, and seductive juxtapositions of the delicate and powerful are inextricably woven around the living, breathing rhythm.

We are delighted to premiere South-London based keys player, composer and producer James Beckwith's exciting new single,  ‘Celeste’.

On his new track, James conjures emotions, ideas, and impressions out of tasteful harmony, intricate arrangement and strong production. Expanding from the traditional piano trio format that he's known for, Beckwith explores the world of synths, electronics and production. ‘Celeste’ is written like an electronic tune , with builds and space to let rhythm and repetitive patterns tell the story.

"Celeste" is a single about the ethereal, the mystery and the fascination with space and the unknown. The Celesta creates a mystical sound with the typical elements of my writing combining synth and piano on equal measure. This is my first serious journey in production where the record is as produced as it is composed”

It will tie into the sound of James’ upcoming album planned for Oct 2021, a follow-up to the brilliant ‘Long Distance’, which merged genres and influences to create a sound of its own, drawing comparison to 80’s Herbie Hancock.

Since then life has been put on pause, causing James’ approach to shift. The resultant music is very much reflective of the isolation and contemplation of the past year. “COVID has given me time to think about what’s important and what I want, and that is to create my own lasting pieces of music”.

A much sought after musician, James has worked alongside names including Nubya Garcia, Sharky, Yazmin Lacey, Judi Jackson, Alex Hitchcock, SEED Ensemble and Cherise.

Exclusive Premiere: James Beckwith "Celeste"

Aloof is a debut release  by DRTYWHTVNS (Cameron Rice). Album was produced with help from Dash and internetboy. Aloof features guest vocals from Dos Grandiose and proxy.exe.  Cameron expresses his feelings of becoming distant from the people around him leading to a lack of joy for daily trivial interactions. The album explores the simultaneous exuberance and depression when trying to reconcile yourself to the capitalistic vice of “purpose”. The closing track is a final relief, a sense of death to escape the need to earn money or have purpose. What would a world be like with no financial need?

This release is a collaboration between Dayton, Ohio’s hip hop collective Bad Genes and Orange Milk Records.

Bad Genes is a new collective focusing on Dayton Hip Hop artists stemming from Dayton’s rich history in R&B, Funk, and Hip Hop.

Influenced by equal parts bossa nova, Memphis rap, and Etienne de Crecy, I wanted to create the sound of mai tais, hippie speedballs, and landlocked exotica.
