HHH label is a series of releases coming from a musical research and visual residency called Hitchhiker. 
ⒽⒽⒽ residencies was created by Encastrable, a visual art duo who is part of Carpaccio team.

The guest artist for the 4 th episode is @hadji-hajj who is a video maker and producer from Lyon. He is also the boss of Dawn records and one of the owners of the famous Schnell records .

The idea of HHH is simple: to invite an artist for a road trip by car, van or camping car, to produce music.
It's a great excuse to look for and create new forms with the guest artist.
Each artist is invited to make field recordings during the trip in order to compose tracks. For this one, the travel was between Le Puy de Dôme, Le Limousin and Corrèze.

For his maturity album, René Danger merges his voice singing in Breton and French with chiptune arpeggios, dub bass and syncopated rhythms. 
Entirely composed on two trackers (LSDJ on Gameboy and Dirtywave M8), Gwerz Boy could be summed up with the portmanteau words gwerz-dub or chip-trad. 
Since the Gameboy was hugely influential for the making of this album and for René Danger's music in general, he entirely developed a Gameboy game accompanying this release, as well as a little fanzine illustrated by Maître Selecto.

The boy’s sisters, mothers, and grandmothers raised him with immeasurable love, knowledge, and forgiveness. Unaware their selflessness would be thanked with disdain. The royal bit the hands that fed him. Soon the generous offerings would dwindle in the face of his growing appetite and ego. In contempt and avoidance of his duties, the young King pursued hedonism. The crown continued to hold imbalance and entitlement. 

Years later, the King would become an insomniac, he slept only when there was beauty outside. The secluded pit where he came to dwell would seem unfit for purpose (a waning concept). All that remained in his icy cavern was the husk of his crown and two dozen frozen snails. 

Through the cavern, a bitter mist would often roll in by the tonne. Frozen voices of the Kingdom roused him, swirling through his skull. With them joined dark spirits from afar. Spirits so putrid, they’d worm fear and anxieties into one’s every day tasks. He thought of his children, his past riches, but could not bear to return to them. Did his kin see sovereignty, or just a man and his dog? After all, a dog is just a wolf that man befriended. The promise of ice made him rue the days of the fen. Begrudgery moor.

𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 was born in 2022 during a SHAPE+ and Nextones artistic residency in Valdossola, Italy, centered around BABAU's nomination as SHAPE+ artists 2022/23. Initially conceived as a tutorial and tongue-in-cheek artistic text conceived by Babau, 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 was built with a playful approach to music theory exploring the audio, listening and improvisation research of scholars and musicians such as Pauline Oliveros, Micah Silver, Jace Clayton and Jem Finer. These speculations were combined with lighthearted inputs from video game habits and Zen philosophy teachings elaborating a practice of improvisation and composition which sees musical interaction as: 

𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘫𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥/𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴. 𝘖𝘧 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴. 

From this residency week of interaction with musician Bienoise (Alberto Ricca) and fashion designer/artist Flora Rabitti (Atelier Florania) and a year of further development, the artists have crafted two long tracks in which they mixed computer music techniques with electroacoustic improvisation and sound manipulations which engage with these ideas. 

Influenced by the approaches of computer music pioneers such as David Behrman, Carl Stone and John Bischoff, 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 #1 & #2 were composed starting from two canons written by means of electronic arpeggios that were later expanded thanks to MaxMSP sound extraction patches. The patches took a portion of the initial audio, generating longer and longer sound patterns. From this initial unpredictable structure, the musicians have included further improvised overdubs including wind instruments (alto saxophone and toleat), field recordings, and additional synth lines. 

The result is an immersive two-piece work in which the architectures of the composition change continuously at a slow, unpredictable pace.

Babau & Bienoise  - looongplay #1

Chaotic (poly)rhythms generated by natural elements such as wind and water, extended and combined with micro-improvisations. Field recordings of trains, crickets, grasshoppers are joined by a generative synthesis, inspired by the traditional music of Laos. Sounds of Jonáš’s childhood, sounds of immediate surroundings, ultrasounds pitch-shifted to our hearing dimension.
The main theme of the album is erratical behaviour of the environment and fauna in collaboration with attempts to find a pattern and order; exploration of ASMR phenomenon through unconventional microphone techniques and deep focus on meridian-response-inducing timbres. Each used sound has a strong emotional connection with Jonáš’s past and has its own story in the overall experience.
