Where to even begin with @garcon, an artist who I believe is pushing a truely unique, innovative and interesting sound. Based in Basel, Switzerland, Denis runs the consistently impressive @amenthia-recordings alongside another Swiss talent, @agonis-amenthia. He also hosts the show @homebasel on Radio Ghost Town, which has showcased an extensive plethora of inspiring artists. The Basel mainstay is also a resident at Elysia club.

Garçon has built a name for himself with a deep-diving record collection that showcases a beautiful diversity of sounds and styles. What is so special about his DJ'ing is the way he pieces all of this music together in charming, avant-garde and unexpected ways.

Animix Fifty Four: Garçon

I am sooo happy to host a mix by one of my dear friends and favourite DJs to have graced the Melbourne/ Naarm scene in recent years, @differentshadess . Anis is a powerhouse DJ known for her deep dives into techno, trance and 170+ rhythms. 

Malaysian born, she has lived in Aus for the last 10 years and recently relocated to Berlin.  She has also recently started releasing some incredible productions, collaborating with another special Melbourne artist @loifian with a recent release on an @ute-rec x @amniote-editions compilation. 

Anis has a beautiful ability to tell stories through her music and mixes, no matter how calm or turbo the energy. This one is no exception.

For April's Netil show, I'm very happy to present a mix in the second hour from host of @hypnozicpsych , @suleyalhakeem , with shades of techno sorcery, swirling rhythms and shapeshifting sounds 🔮

Hypnozic Psychedelia is a platform and monthly radio show on @1020radio and Suley's sound is immersive, shadowy, sometimes hard sometimes hazy, all of it trance-inducing vortexing hypnotism. It's a pleasure to have had him on the show 🌌💫

“The world is unpredictable. Creation is also unpredictable. Most of the time, artists have very strong opinions and statements, so sometimes it is not easy to make music with other artists. However, for me, art is the process itself. I invited Japanese artist, yolabmi to work together on this project, expecting we can accept the complexity, embrace each other’s recording materials, and then add our own sounds within and do the editing. I arranged the first 30 minutes and yolabmi arranged the last 30 minutes. We both really enjoyed the process. Hope the audience will enjoy our journey as well.” ― Jin

Kairogen is a DJ and producer from Glasgow, Scotland. In the two years she has been active as a DJ she has played some of the UK’s biggest clubs and festivals, including a residency with Slam’s Return To Mono at Sub Club, as well as supporting acts such as Avalon Emerson and Perc. 

A background of working in clubs and an education in visual arts has shaped Kairogen’s approach to playing and making music, enjoying textural rhythms and emotive melodies. Kairogen’s style can vary from ambient pieces through to house and techno - preferring to choose in the moment what seems fitting for the context and time rather than subscribing to a particular genre. Previous releases have been on labels such as Soma Records and deep techno label Space Textures.

Lucid Dream Tape 10 comes from one of our favourite artists - Sunju Hargun.

What makes Sunju so special to us is his ability to play to any atmosphere. Sunju is able to build his own unique touch across all his sets, whether this be a more ravey club setting or something a little more downtempo. 

It was no surprise that when we asked if he'd put together a mix for us he opted for this series. Throughout this hour long recording, Sunju gives us all a chance to take a step back and reflect.
