The screen door mesh framed the prologue perfectly/
as the clouds coiled into something more serpentine/
fervently, my eyes darted back and forth to catch a glimpse/
and managed to see something land beyond the glassy palaces/
dust rippled off speakers for emergency broadcasts/
as some unmarked vehicles were circling on past/
streaming different colored tape you're not allowed through/
all the while a vivid darkness swirling in the clouds brewed/
my stomach free fell every time I craned my neck/
peering up and out the world that maybe never paid its debts/
the weather vanes were bent from winds that seemed to change direction/
on a whim, impaling pretty songbirds onto tapered ends/
it started making sense when reporters stormed en masse/
cameras forward, prying up the boards, disclosing fortunes stashed/
but it was more than that, when they switched the channel/
to a discarnate voice saying more just hit the ground/

and so plentiful rumors sprout out the weeds/
trying to get a stranglehold on the brand new intrigue/
because it came from above and shimmered when it fell/
to here, shattering the facets of an upper realm/

I saw the silhouette of consequence/
up on the hill surveying the entire continent/
as many more fell, well into a countless digit/
peppering the field of view, the seeds that grew we're now infinite/
clouds were shifting more amorphic by the second/
like a portal pouring endless gemstones on the poor and helpless/
"pandemonium" could not express the event/
as the sand dunes were melting into a mess I've never beheld/
I shut the cover of my moisture trap manually/
the rattling up above had been addling my brain from back to front/
I could barely recognize the retooled, pelted ground/
that was beaten down beneath the steel wool textured clouds/
and I sat and stared up at the thriving storm that built a scenic view/
as ragged wires of light engulfed the night so unbelievable/
the water rushed around me, the strangest thing I've ever seen/
as the open door framed the epilogue expertly/
