@benkaczor out of Basel, Switzerland is a riveting ambient / techno producer who has his hand in a variety of different projects that have caught my attention over the years. He releases music regularly from a number of these projects as well as other Swiss artists on his own platform KCZ / CZT (benkaczor.bandcamp.com/music). The label showcases a really nice contrast between his ambient releases (CZT) & his techno releases (KCZ) - a lot of which have ended up in a bunch of my mixes & DJ sets over the years. He also has a project called Tarik Hensen (benkaczor.bandcamp.com/album/tarik-hensen-saknar-a-nde-ep) with Swedish producer Martinou which consists of a tough, gritty, moody techno that is a really nice blend of each of their sounds. Ben has such a breadth of music knowledge across the worlds of techno & ambient music - everything he puts out surprises me & I constantly find myself in awe of his releases & mixes. How do you get 'in the box'? Gal Tsadok-Hai knows. After some experiments with hardware, the Amsterdam-based electronic producer recently went back to his first love: computer composing. Thus keeping open all the options.

Footsteps is his first EP for SoHaSo, filled with four tracks of adventurous, left-field explorations in rhythm and melody. cl_forwardspeed 5 is dominated by sub low baslines and razor blade rhythms, while mp_footsteps 1 nods more towards early Aphex Twin and the IDM trickery from last century.

Flip the record for max_smokepuffs 999, on which Gal Tsadok- Hai proves he can also bring a straight four-four to great heights. It is both spacious and tense, which makes for a great combination.
On closer sv_gravity 0 it's back to the days when melody was still the default in most techno and electro. If you like the abstract machine funk from Dopplereffekt, this might just be right up your alley.

"Astrometric Effect" is the third release from Berlin label Intercontinental Dance Organization, better known as IDO. The release sees the label’s founder Valentino Mora collaborating for the first time with experimental Japanese musician Yoshitake EXPE. Astrometric Effect and Trans Format Eurotica are both products of a live experimentation session in Berlin. Mora provides his signature groovy, tribal percussions and deep sub bass and EXPE creates dreamy ambient drones using an electric guitar with a case full of effects that completely reimagines the sound of the guitar. Astrometric Effect is deep, tribal, hypnotic house, where the organic percussions and atmospheres are perfectly offset against delicate touches of robotic synth sounds. In Trans Format Eurotica, Mora’s spacey acid bassline paired with EXPE’s dreamy drone create a liquid effect. EXPE adds a “LFO” rhythmic sound using the electric guitar with effects as a percussive instrument. The final track on the EP, Trans Format Eurotica (Underwater Rephase), is a dub version offered by Mora, which is sure to be a club favourite.

From the need to contribute and relieve a little the social and economic problem that is currently being experienced in the country due to the emergency of COVID-19, From a Lost Place has brought together local and international artists who have joined the cause to, through music, try to help the most vulnerable. 100% of the money raised on Bandcamp will be donated in two parts: One for Santa Cruz del Islote, an artificial island located in the San Bernardo archipelago (Colombia) and considered one of the most populated islands in the world, which It sustains itself economically through tourism and now finds itself with a lack of food and medicine supplies. The other part will go to the Fundación Rediseñándonos, located in Bogotá and whose initiative is the reintegration of vulnerable people and street dwellers through weaving and clothing. Right now and due to the current situation, this home needs to stock up on food and raw materials to continue working for those who need it.

A partir de la necesidad de contribuir y aliviar un poco el problema social y económico que se está viviendo actualmente en Colombia debido a la emergencia del COVID-19, From a Lost Place ha reunido artistas locales e internacionales que se han sumado a la causa para, a través de la música, tratar de ayudar a los más vulnerables. El 100% del dinero recaudado en Bandcamp será donado en dos partes: Una para Santa Cruz del Islote, una isla artificial ubicada en el archipiélago de San Bernardo y considerada una de las islas más pobladas del mundo, la cual se sostiene económicamente por el turismo y ahora se encuentra con falta de abastecimiento de comida y medicamentos. La otra parte se destinará a la Fundación Rediseñándonos, ubicada en Bogotá (COL) y que tiene como iniciativa la reinserción de personas vulnerables y habitantes de calle por medio del tejido y la confección. Ahora mismo y debido a la situación actual, este hogar necesita abastecerse de alimentos y materia prima para continuar trabajando en pro de quienes lo necesitan.
