Manchester's 'Live From The Groove' label and radio show recently release my second single that was made for their Golden Ape Beat Tape. The track is entitled 'Downrock (Break Time part.3)' and unlike 'Speedboat', the Jazz funk first single made in collaboration wit GrandHuit (Tour De Manage), Downrock is straight up b-boy style breakbeat Hip Hop for the break dancers and DJ's.

Expect to be taken on a ride through realms and moods that are dark, funky, hard hitting, uplifting, spiritual, melancholic, jazzy and even a little bashy, but always very Hip Hop.

All involved were free to express themselves and make something fresh, whilst giving their take on sounds that would work during the summer months of chilling out during the days or nights. 

We close this album with another feature from the Leeds based Jamettone band. If you don't know, all their material is based on live session and doing on the spot improvisation. See the video(s) on Bandcamp or Youtube for example.

Gadget - Sun Stepper - HeatWAVs [ 2024 Summer LP ]

All Ears is one we recorded some years back, but due to the sad loss of a Samsung hard drive the data was thought to be lost before the song could ever be released. Fortunately, the final recording were found in 2024, and the song has been remastered and is here to be shared with you all.

All Ears came about as Wizard was putting out a series of beat tapes and sharing amongst friends and collaborators. After hearing a particular instrumental, Gadget (known as "the hook guy" at the time) freestyled the chorus and began to build on it. After getting Wizard's blessing, he wrote a verse and reached out his regular collaborators Joey Gzus (aka Benji B / Joe Gutta) & ReggiiMental to join him with additional verses.

Keeping up with Wizard's soulful production, it was a no brainer to create something on a personal tip that many could relate to. So the song was based on a relationship type theme, as the three lyricists dedicated their verses to their partners at that time, and that was that!!

This single includes a seriously head nodding remix by @Don-Blake, with a re-recorded chorus to add that extra funk flavour to the mix. There's also two acapella versions that come with the download.

Gadget & Lady Paradox - Modern Reflective ft. Anna Stott

Lady Paradox and Gadget have actually talked about working together since 2008, when they found a mutual respect for each other’s craft and work ethic over the years. Like many collaborators, it was a case of trying to mutually find the perfect time to commit to the many ideas they had in mind. Now, after a few collaborations via compilations and the odd single release, they have finally managed to conjure up their first collaborative project entitled ‘Mood Swings’. The album nicely blends Jazz infused beats with laid back vocals and a sense of familiarity that leaves us wondering why this project hadn't happened sooner.

This is simply a little project which is in similar fashion to our earlier tribute albums from our first three seasons. However, in this case the Jazz Jousters were each challenged to get digging in the crates and work with Jazz music from the year 1969 and come up with something in their own style. With the result of sixteen tracks to come out of this challenge it's safe to say it was a worthwhile session to get the creative juices flowing.

We hope you like this one!!

Oh but there's more... keep an eye out in December for the 7th anniversary 12" album which will follow this one to close the year.

Here's a bit of a dusty one from jamming in the Audio Dojo. After knocking out a load of laid back instrumentals I felt to come with something with an upbeat feel. I like to think it has a positive and catchy feel that mite inspire some dancing. Well it did so for my partner, tho it doesn't take much for her to shake a leg. A Guyanese/Dominican born and raised in North London and now residing in a secret location known as Gadgistan. Born into both a musical family and community where music was always around and became Gadget's first love at a very young age. Besides dabbling with instruments and production equipment left around by his father or brother, Gadget became a young DJ/MC in the underground rave scene and was often a favourite at various showcases, party nights and radio stations. He began to get deeper into production and started building his own studio in order to take out the "needing favours" element, and he has never looked back since. Gadget is now a self taught Sound Engineer, Producer, Vocal Artist, Ghost Writer, DnB DJ, occasional promoter, founder and project manager of the Jazz Jousters collective and the @MillenniumJazz Music label.
